Hard to believe it’s almost been two decades since Ichiro Suzuki made the trip from Japan to America to play for the Seattle Mariners. It’s almost just as unfathomable to imagine his career has officially come to an end, with his retirement becoming official as part of the Mariners’ 5-4 win over the Oakland A’s in Japan.

In a matter of 24 hours, LeBron James has passed Michael Jordan on the NBA’s all-time scoring list and reportedly was given a minutes restriction by the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. The report also indicates LeBron “likely won’t play back-to-backs.”
LeBron James’ changed the NBA forever in his first offseason as a free agent. The idea of meeting with other free agents to decide on a destination, instead of selecting a destination based on the players they had and considered acquired had not been done. In an age where stars not only share agents but also share other contacts like skills or strength coaches, this shouldn’t come as a shock.
Major League Baseball is finally trying to figure out ways to improve the game. It’s no small feat, with a good portion of the game’s fans being purists. In reality, though, baseball is riddled with change. The mound has been lowered before, then there’s the DH, not to mention the Wild Card system. Times change and the game has to on occasion too.
Generally speaking, when it comes to MLB free agency, if the New York Yankees are in on a player, it’s the Yankees vs. everyone else.
