In 2017, Jordan Smith was dismissed from the Florida Gators following a credit card fraud scheme he was a part of. He spent a year at a JUCO school before landing with UAB in 2019. During his time at UAB, Smith was one of the best players in the C-USA conference.
Missouri is sending two safeties to the NFL this year. Both of Tyree Gillespie and Joshuah Bledsoe are sleepers and many people’s “my-guys” in the safety class. Gillespie is more of the free safety type, while Bledsoe is more of a nickel corner/strong safety type of player. Bledsoe hasn’t taken many reps as a deep safety, and that might hurt his draft stock and sink him to the day three conversation.
There are plenty of prospects who don’t meet the thresholds regarding size in the NFL. Drew Dalman is another player in a long line of players this year who have family ties to the NFL. His father, Chris Dalman also played in the big leagues for the 49ers for seven seasons. Now, another son of a former player is set to have his name called next weekend.
The Pittsburgh Panthers have many intriguing prospects heading to the 2021 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh is sending two pass rushers to the NFL with Rashad Weaver and Patrick Jones II declaring. Jones may be the better of the two and offers some great traits in his pass-rushing and run-defending skills. He is likely going to be a day three pick and would be a nice value selection at that spot.
The 2021 NFL Draft is full of players with family ties throughout the draft. A player that many aren’t talking about that also has family ties deeper in the draft is Blake Proehl. Proehl is the son of former receiver, Ricky Proehl and his brother is a receiver for the 49ers. The younger brother offers a different skillset than his brother and father and is hardly getting any talk as a day three steal.
Spencer Brown is a top ten player at his position and I’m not talking about the tackle. While the Northern Iowa tackle has gotten a lot of hype, there is another player with the same name that is a good football player as well. This one is a running back from UAB. He ran for over 4,000 yards, 41 rushing touchdowns, and 19 career games with over 100 yards. Brown is seen as a consensus undrafted pick, but there is certainly more talent than that.
While Creed Humphrey, Landon Dickerson, and Quinn Meinerz steal the spotlight of the center position of the NFL Draft, there are plenty of other options later on in the draft. Jimmy Morrissey is one of them. Morrissey arrived to Pittsburgh as a walk on, but ended up starting all four years he was there, was elected team captain, and a three-time All-ACC Selection.
The 2021 offensive line class is a great one. Teams can find plenty of options on days two and three to plug and play into their starting lineups. A great example of a player in this class that will be drafted on day three that can be a starter right from the jump is Kentucky’s Drake Jackson.
Everyone has their “my guys” at every position in the NFL Draft. A lot of people have varying opinions on who they choose for their linebacker in this category. Monty Rice has been mentioned in this regard by some people. The lack of a three-down skillset for the Bulldogs has raised some questions about him, but many have labeled him as a steal in the 2021 class.
Ohio State has sent a plethora of linebackers to the NFL since 2000. The trend continues once again this year as the Buckeyes have four linebackers eligible for the draft. Pete Werner played in many roles at Ohio State and will likely be the second of the four linebackers taken in just a few short weeks.

The quarterback and number one receiver share a special bond. That is what happened this year at BYU with Zach Wilson and Dax Milne. Milne burst onto the scene this year, catching 70 passes for 1,188 yards and eight touchdowns. With Wilson declaring for the draft, Milne followed in hopes that his one year of outstanding production would shoot him up draft boards.
