The NFL has thankfully seen an influx of talent along the offensive line in recent years. The trend continues this year, with Evan Neal, Ikem Ekwonu, and Charles Cross consistently mocked in the top ten. Cross has been marked as a potential top ten choice, so let’s see if the tape backs that claim.
The Los Angeles Chargers entered the 2021 season with sky-high expectations. Unfortunately, the Chargers stumbled to a 9-8 record. The offense was excellent, but the defensive unit, the one Staley’s expertise is in, needs work heading into the 2022 season.
The Indianapolis Colts started their offseason a bit sooner than many expected. With another disappointing season by Frank Reich and Chris Ballard’s standards, the 2022 season for Indianapolis is a massive one.
The Cincinnati Bearcats burst onto the scene this year, on their way to a College Football Playoff semi-final appearance. An underrated member of the Cincinnati team was Gardner’s partner in crime, Coby Bryant. Bryant will likely see a rise following his performance at the Senior Bowl this week.
The 2022 NFL Draft is full of intriguing quarterback prospects. There are plenty of prospects that could develop into franchise signal-callers, but there isn’t a consensus top prospect. A player that could see his name rise through the ranks this week at the Senior Bowl is Western Kentucky’s Bailey Zappe.
The University of Alabama has continuously sent linebackers to the next level. The next in a long line of Alabama linebackers is Christian Harris.
The Georgia Bulldogs were carried to their national title with their defense. With Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, and Lewis Cine on the defensive side, players such as Travon Walker go unnoticed sometimes.
The Las Vegas Raiders entered the season with mixed expectations. The Raiders won their final four games after starting 6-7 to enter the playoffs. An unfortunate end to the season would come in the wild card round as the Cincinnati Bengals would defeat the Raiders 26-19.
When the Georgia Bulldogs won the College Football Championship a few weeks ago, they were led by their defense. That defense was filled with players that will soon be drafted into the NFL in April. Devonte Wyatt is yet another Bulldog that will find a new home on the first two days of the NFL Draft in April.
The 2022 linebacker class is headlined by Nakobe Dean and Devin Lloyd. After that, the class has a significant drop-off. A player looking to get their name in that conversation is Brandon Smith.
Entering the 2021 season, the Carolina Panthers were a dark horse playoff team. Behind second-year coach Matt Rhule and a new quarterback, many expected the Panthers to compete for a playoff spot. Unfortunately, after that 3-0 start, the Panthers lost 12 of the next 14 to end the train wreck of a season at 5-12.
The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2021 season with lofty expectations. Unfortunately, the Colts didn’t reach the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl. For a team with lofty expectations, this season was a bust.
