The Monster Energy Supercross season ended just short of a week ago and the AMA Motocross season is still weeks away. Despite this, some major league “Silly Season” rumors regarding 2022 have already popped up.
On Saturday evening, Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha riders Justin Cooper and Colt Nichols captured the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 West and East regional championships, respectively.
For now the second time in the last three years, “Paul” Cooper Webb has given Red Bull KTM a World Supercross Championship. Outside of a lackluster season opener, Webb once again had a world-class season and put a vice grip on the championship at the halfway point of the season, much like in 2019. Just like in 2019, he would hold the red number plates to the very end of the season and delivered some soul-crushing defeats to rival Ken Roczen. With Day 1 of the NFL Draft now in the books, all eyes look to rounds two and three on Friday. While the bulk of top-tier names heard their names called last night, there is still a boatload of talented players to choose from.
The first thought that comes to mind with a USC Safety is the legendary Troy Polamalu. Coincidentally, the Steelers legend has taken the reigning Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year Talanoa Hufanga under his wing.
The pride of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Benjamin St-Juste looks to become yet another Canadian NFL prospect to go early in the NFL Draft. He looks to join former secondary partner Antoine Winfield Jr as the next of PJ Fleck’s players to hit the professional ranks.
The 250 East and 450 Supercross Titles both were up for grabs on Saturday night, but neither would be claimed one round early. All in all, it was an exciting night of racing in Salt Lake City.
Walker Little may be the most interesting offensive lineman in the entire 2021 NFL Draft class. Having not taken an in-game snap since late August of 2019, there are some fair concerns about the Stanford man. However, in the games that he played in, Little played every bit like a top-class NFL offensive lineman prospect.
The 2021 NFL Draft appears to be light on quality interior defensive lineman, opposed to recent years. This however could open the door to players slipping through the cracks and becoming great finds later. Enter Daviyon Nixon from Iowa, a hyper-athletic interior defensive tackle who brings a good deal of tools to the table.
