Both players now have the experience of suffering a serious injury to their kidney following a hit during a game in their careers. Doyle spent Sunday night in the hospital after needing a procedure to treat a lacerated kidney.

Marcus Mariota Ulnar Nerve – Not Funny

Marcus Mariota sustained a re-injury to his ulnar nerve in his throwing arm on Sunday.  This occurred when he fell onto the elbow. Basically, he experienced a contusion to the ulnar nerve, funny bone, which resulted in recurrence of the numbness and tingling in his throwing arm.

Alex Smith – Another Gruesome sports injury

What do Paul George, Kevin Ware, Joe Theismann, and Alex Smith have in common?  If you were watching football on Sunday, then you know that they all suffered a gruesome sports injury – a lower leg fracture involving both bones in the lower leg.  In medical terms, this is a Tib-Fib fracture.  In sports terms, these injuries dominate more than one list of gruesome sports injuries.

UCL Injuries – Josh Allen Not your Average Injury

When The Buffalo Bills 1st round QB Josh Allen left Sunday’s game, the fans and administration at OBJ were probably surprised to hear what the injury was. UCL – ulnar collateral ligament injuries in NFL players, especially QBs are not nearly as common as they are in baseball players. Is there an ACL Injury Epidemic in the NFL?

Jay Ajayi, Jerick McKinnon, Jimmy Garoppolo, Keanu Neal, Derrius Guice, William Hayes, and Jeremy Hill,  headline the list of NFL feature players who have been bitten by the ACL injury bug that has driven football fans crazy. Jay Ajayi became the 39th reported ACL injury since March 2018. Everyone is discussing the epidemic of ACL injuries but in actuality, the numbers haven’t changed by a statistically significant amount since detailed injury statistics for all NFL teams started to be compiled during the 2000-2001 season. Typically every NFL team experiences 1.5 ACL injuries per NFL season each year.

Tommy John Surgery History and Recovery

Tommy John Surgery is a fear of most baseball players, but especially pitchers. While anyone who has ever played baseball has heard of the surgery few know its history or what is involved in the rehabilitation process after the surgery. Trevor Story left the Rockies game in the 4th inning on Monday with right elbow soreness and reports out indicated it might be a UCL injury and that he was undergoing additional testing.
