The Atlanta Falcons unveiled new uniforms on Wednesday. This will be the first time in 17 years that Atlanta has wholly redesigned the team uniforms. The uniforms feature elements of past looks while innovating for the new decade.

“We took a fan-first approach in gathering feedback and design input and have modernized the look of our team and our brand,” said Falcons President Rich McKay. “Black has been a part of our organization since we took the field in 1966, so we’ve stayed true to our roots and have given our fans and players what they’ve been asking for over many years.”
The NFC South will look a bit different this year as Atlanta debuted their uniforms just a day after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their new look.
Players, including quarterback Matt Ryan, were very pleased with the results.
“There’s just a feeling to it,” Ryan said. “I can’t explain it when you look in your locker, and that color and head to toe in black is going to be good, too. I don’t know what it is, but I know there’s a feeling that comes with it for the guys, too, when we see that in our lockers.”
The Falcons’ new home look will feature black jerseys and black pants with the away look going white on white. Atlanta will now have plenty of different color combinations. The collection includes four jerseys (black home, white away, gradient alternate and the ’66 throwbacks), four pants (black, white, red, and throwbacks) and one helmet (satin black). An interesting touch is a silver chrome facemask.
Atlanta has taken intentional measures to simplify the uniforms. There is a single stripe down the side of the pants that continues up the jersey. A large “ATL” is emblazoned across the front of the jersey, just above the numbers. Home numbers are white with a red accent, and away numbers are black with a red accent.
One of the most exciting jerseys is the gradient. The jersey fades from red to black, with red covering the shoulders and transitioning to black around the waistline. This jersey is being dubbed the “Rise Up” uniform.
The Falcons’ helmet has changed from a glossy look to a more modern all-black matte/satin finish. The Falcon logo is nearly 30 percent larger than before.
