As the Dominoes Fall: Could Jacoby Brissett Wear a Different Jersey in 2020?

Speculation has been swirling that the Indianapolis Colts are extremely interested in 16-year veteran quarterback, Philip Rivers.

If this is true, does that make Jacoby Brissett expendable?

If so, that could throw a huge wrench in the free agent quarterback market and impact the teams without a starting quarterback under contract.

Here are a few landing spots that could make sense for Brissett.

The Tennessee Titans are in a unique situation. They have both quarterbacks from this past season with contracts that expire in the coming weeks. They also had the displeasure of playing against Brissett twice this season. If his price tag is significantly lower than that of Ryan Tannehill or Teddy Bridgewater, would they pull the trigger? Or did they fall in love with Tannehill that much?

The New England Patriots are another team that quickly comes to mind. Brissett has ties to New England. And if they are seriously going to move on from Tom Brady, Brissett is already familiar with the Patriot way. He succeeded in his short window filling in for Tom Brady a few seasons back. The only negative in New England is the same issue Brissett dealt with the latter part of this season, as the Patriots have receiver depth to address this off-season regardless of what quarterback they end up with.

The Dallas Cowboys? A first glance, this seems to be an unlikely destination. But it is possible considering Dak Prescott’s asking price could be another hefty one. As much as Jerry Jones wants to win, is Jacoby Brissett flashy enough for him?

The Detroit Lions are intriguing as their head coach, Matt Patricia, has New England ties. With the uncertainty of the extent of Matthew Stafford’s injury that sidelined him the last two months of the season, this could be a perfect reunion for both sides.

The major thing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lacked at the quarterback position is ball security. Brissett was smart with the football and didn’t turn it over at an alarming rate. Plus, his price tag should be less than Winston’s $30 million asking price.

With a high draft pick, could the Miami Dolphins get Brissett and use their top pick to fill another key position that needs to be addressed?

Just for argument’s sake, the Los Angeles Chargers could be a destination, as they are missing a starting quarterback. They have a solid foundation on offense and with the right signal-caller, they could right away be in contention in their division.

In an off-season that could potentially be the biggest one for shuffling at the quarterback position, Jacoby Brissett could be an interesting name to add to the fold. But did teams see enough out of him this past season to invest in him long term?
