Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Preseason Week 1

In the first test of their new team, the Arizona Cardinals are set to square off against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Coming off a season where the Cardinals were 3-13 and held the worst record in the NFL, they had to make some changes. The most highly touted ones include bringing in new head coach Kliff Kingsbury and drafting quarterback Kyler Murray.

In the last seven games between these teams, the Cardinals have won three, and the Chargers have taken the other four.

As for depth, the Cardinals’ 90-man roster is mostly offense and defense, and they are relying on not having injuries to their special team’s players. While having arguably one of the most productive offseasons in a long time, Arizona left their special teams somewhat bare. With seven players filling the six needed positions, if someone goes down there will be a big void to fill.

With a stacked offensive and defensive line to back up the strictly special teams players, they should be all set.

As the first real test for the rookie Kyler Murray, this is his NFL debut. With all of the negativity he has received about his size and being the Heisman winner, this is his chance to prove them wrong. If he can put up great numbers game on his end, the Cardinals should be able to come out with the win.

Prediction:

Cardinals 21, Chargers 17

Kyler Murray will lead the Cardinals to an unexpected victory. The rookie will throw 200+ yards, and the guys in the backfield will run wild. With some defensive help, Arizona will set their mark as a significant playoff contender this year. This game will help Arizona seal their starters up for the season.
