This morning at 9 AM, the Board of Governors voted to the cancel the remainder of the 2019-2020 AHL season along with the 2020 Calder Cup Playoffs.

โ€œAfter a lengthy review process, the American Hockey League has determined that the resumption and completion of the 2019-20 season is not feasible in light of current conditions,โ€ AHL president and CEO David Andrews said in a statement.

The AHL is focusing on looking towards next year. Their primary concern is looking out for the health and safety of the players, coaches, and staff.

The AHL says the current standings and statistics as of Mar. 12, are considered to be final and official, and will serve as the basis for determining league awards for the 2019-20 season.

The AHL serves as a developmental league for the NHL. With the AHL now cancelling their season only time will tell if the NHL will be coming back to play the rest of their season.
