The maiden voyage of the Seattle Kraken hasn’t exactly been one for the books. With an expansion draft that hasn’t aged well early on, they sit in the basement of the Pacific with just 40 points.
We are just about at the halfway point of the 2021-22 season, which means that it is time for overreactions, where many of them could be true! For the Seattle Kraken, their inaugural season has left us with the potential to clown all over them.

The 2021 National Hockey League Expansion Draft came and went last week as the Seattle Kraken assembled the first draft of their roster. In total, 31 players relocated and the vast majority of them (at least for the time being) can call Seattle, Washington home.
Expecting an expansion franchise to have an abundance of draft picks in the team’s first-ever entry draft is not uncommon. But in the case of the Seattle Kraken, only seven players were selected across the seven rounds.

Leading up to the next expansion draft in the NHL on July 21st, we have been previewing each team’s potential protected list and which player they will lose to the Kraken. Today is the Central Division. After only six teams in the Pacific will need to participate (aside from the Kraken, of course), the Central’s eight is a big boost up. They will also have a new team in this division, or at least when the season resets officially on July 28th. So, let’s make some predictions.
Later this month, we will have a full roster for the 32nd National Hockey League team. The Seattle Kraken will pick one player from almost every team, as they try to build a successful roster.
