The Panthers are a very confusing team to figure out. Do they need a QB, WR, or defensive help more than anything else? Well, with a top 10 draft pick, they have options and a lot of good options.

Round 1, Pick 7: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Building an elite defensive line will forever be the most underrated move for a rebuilding team. Brown is quick out of his stance and his combination of hands, size, speed, and strength make him one of the rare prospects. Having a player like Brown man your defensive line and plug up the gaps will go a long way.
Round 2, Pick 38: Trey Adams, OT, Washington
Building a defensive line is good, building a solid offensive line is even better. It seems like the Panthers are committed to Cam Newton this season. If they want to make a run at the playoffs, protecting Newton should be a high priority. The Panthers swapped Trai Turner for Russell Okung earlier this week. So they are committed to building an elite offensive line.
Round 3, Pick 69: Thaddeus Moss, TE, LSU
With the news that Greg Olson will not be back, the Panthers need a TE. Why not go with the national champion, son of an all-time great? Moss is a great run-blocking TE. II think that is his best trait. While he does not have the same hands as his father, he is still great at getting up and snagging the ball.
Round 4, Pick 113: Evan Weaver, LB, Cal
With the sudden retirement of Luke Kuechly, the Panthers could grab one of my favorite prospects in this draft. Weaver has led the Bears in tackles the past two years with 155 in 2018, and 181 in 2019. He can be, and I think he will be a steal in this draft.
Round 5, Pick 153: Lavert Hill, CB, Michigan
The Panthers will need to address their defensive backfield at some point, but it is not a glaring issue. Hill is a physical player. He is very smooth and quick with his game. He has that rare control of his body that gives him that extra athletic edge. I have concerns about his size and strength, but the upsides outweigh the downsides in this situation.
Round 6, Pick 184: Quintez Cephus, WR, Wisconsin
I said earlier that the Panthers might address their WR core in this draft. It is not a glaring need, so they can afford to grab other positions. Cephus is a big, strong player. He is quick off the snap, but will not burn you downfield. He was so good for the Badgers down the stretch and showed that he could be a decent backup in this league.
Round 7, Pick 222: Shea Patterson, QB, Michigan
I have always said it, I am a fan of taking a QB in the seventh-round, even if you have an established starter. It’s always good to have an open mind when it comes to young QBs. You never know when you will find a gem.
