Welcome back into another installment of Ice Picks. Today the overall structure will be altered slightly but will still contain preview material of favored games on the docket. Let’s settle in and go over some Ice Picks.
Arizona Coyotes (25-16-4) at Tampa Bay Lightning(25-13-4)
The bolts have now racked up eight consecutive wins. Tuesday night they were able to handle the Vancouver Canucks with relative ease in a convincing 9-2 win. It appears that they are rolling right now and should have their hands full with the usually stingy Arizona Coyotes.
Victor Hedman D
Hedman is arguably the team’s best and most consistent player. He is featured on the top powerplay unit and logs heavy minutes reaching 25 almost regularly. What makes Hedman even more valuable is that his peripherals( blocks and shots) are ranked up with the leagues best, especially at the position.
Brayden Point C
The newly formed trio of Kucherov, Stamkos, and Point is sure to rival any other team’s top unit. Stacking these three is in play. As for Point, he has 3G, 5A 11 shots in his previous five games and has been just as consistent over the span of his last 10 notching well over a point per contest(5G, 9A, 22sh).
Buffalo Sabres(19-17-7) at St.Louis Blues(27-10-7)
The Sabres have endured some injuries this season but have reeled off two straight wins after dropping four straight. The defending Cup champs Blues will be a lot to handle for Buffalo as St.Louis has the fifth-best home record in the league with a mark of 14-4-3. The Sabres have struggled on the road this season as they have given up an average of 3.54 goals per contest while attaining just a 6-12-4 record.
Brayden Schenn C
DraftKings, as of January 8th has Schenn listed at 4.9K which is a great value. Schenn is a regular on the first powerplay unit.
Nashville Predators(19-16-7) at Chicago Blackhawks(19-19-6)
The Predators are a team in flux as they are still trying to find their identity. They are allowing goals at a clip of 3.33 on the season(28th). The recent coaching change could be what the team needs to steer them in the right direction but this could take a while for the team to respond.
Patrick Kane W
As for the Hawks, they continue to rely on Patrick Kane and he continues to deliver. 4G, 4A and 22 shots in his last five contests and if you go as far back as the last 10, the stat line remains impressive, 6G, 9A, 39sh.
Dominik Kubalik W
Kubalik has been a great find this season for Chicago. He won’t cost as much as the higher tiered players on the slate. Kubalik has produced 5G with five assists to go along with 21shots in his last 10 games.
