After suffering a season-ending chest injury against the Raiders last year, J.J. Watt was only able to play the first eight games of the 2019 season. This year, Watt wants to prove to everyone that he’s 100% again. The Texans will need him in order to be competitive in 2020.
2019 Stats
In Watt’s eight games last season, he totaled 24 total tackles, 15 solo tackles, and four sacks. Overall, he had a solid half-season of rushing the quarterback and making plays on defense. Watt was a positive factor for Houston, who was a 5-3 team going into Week 9. Watt will be ready to improve his stats in 2020.
Confidence
This year, Watt will have to be confident about his return. He will have to know that he had a solid season before his injury and that he’ll return even stronger. He’s a very energetic, confident player, and he should have no problem getting back on the field to help his team out.
Watt is a tough player and a playmaker who makes good things happen in clutch situations. He’ll have to be the guy to fire up his team in the locker room and on the field as well.
Summary
Watt has been doing his part to get healthy as fast as he can so he can get back to playing. Once he returns, he will be the core of the Texans’ defense. Houston should shape up to be a good football team, especially with Watt back.
This offseason and upcoming preseason will be very important for Watt, who needs to prepare himself for the regular season.
