Coming off a championship season in 2019, the Kansas City Chiefs are ready to run it back again in 2020 with virtually the same cast of characters and arguably one of the best coaches in Andy Reid.
The 2020 season for the Chiefs will be the eighth season under Reid. The Chiefs will try to make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, which would tie the team’s franchise record for consecutive playoff appearances. After last year’s Super Bowl victory, they will try to be the first team to repeat as champions since the Patriots did it in 2003 and 2004. Kansas City would be the eighth team to repeat in history.
The Chiefs are a successful football team because they have talented players as well as depth. The offensive side of the ball is stacked. Patrick Mahomes is looking for another strong year. He can scramble just as well as he can get the ball down the field to his key targets in Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and other stud receivers such as Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson. Damien Williams showed last year that he can provide a nice complement to Mahomes and the passing game, and looks to take another leap in production
The defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs is continuing to rise. Starting with its powerful defensive front including Frank Clark and Chris Jones, the defense can continue to bring pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Kansas City has good depth at the linebacker position and also in the secondary with guys like Tyrann Mathieu. This team will be a force to reckoned with come 2020.
The Chiefs are ready to roll when this season starts. Until someone figures out Mahomes, the Chiefs deserve to be in the driver’s seat as Super Bowl favorites.
