Since the end of the football season, rumors have been rampant that the future Hall of Fame quarterback would sign elsewhere. He has been linked to the Raiders, Titans, 49ers, Broncos, Bears, and most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tennessee inked an extension with Ryan Tannehill, the Raiders signed former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, and the 49ers and Broncos said they were no longer interested in Brady.

In fact, many believed it was only a matter of time before he re-signed in New England and that all the hoopla over the last few months was just that: hoopla.

Even the greats sometimes decide to take their talents elsewhere, though.

His parting gift to the Patriots? A $13 million hit on the team’s 2020 salary cap.
