Latest on Tom Brady Contract Negotiations

The New England Patriots and their franchise quarterback of 20 years appear to have reached an impasse in regards to the future.

Per ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss, the team and Brady have not had any discussions regarding the six-time Super Bowl champion’s contract since August.

If the Patriots and Brady were to agree to a new deal, it cannot come in the form of a franchise tag as his current contract prohibits this. This makes things rather dicey as a long-term contract risks dealing with play decline assuming the it extends until Brady is 45-years old.

Brady, 42, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft and is the only active player remaining from that class. He is also the only quarterback to win six Super Bowls and has more playoff wins than every single quarterback in this postseason combined.

For Patriots fans, the only thing absolutely certain about Brady’s future is that he will be taking the field against the Tennessee Titans tomorrow at 8:15 p.m.
