As the clock struck midnight last night, the past decade came to an end and the next one began. While the 2020s are sure to have their own thrilling adventures and stories, it would be foolish not to reflect on the 2010s.
SportsCenter did just that in a beautifully-crafted video lasting just under seven minutes. This montage does the extraordinary by not only including the highs of the past decade, but also the lows.
The video features positive clips such as Kawhi Leonard’s miraculous game-winning shot in the most recent NBA playoffs, Aaron Rodgers’s numerous hail mary passes, and Tiger Woods celebrating a Green Jacket victory.
Reflecting on the negative is important, too. The video shows clips of various figures being suspended or banned, as well as the no-call on the pass interference in the 2018 NFC Championship and Jim Joyce ruining Armando Galarraga’s perfect game.
There’s also Bill Belichick referencing “Mona Lisavito,” Richard Sherman yelling that Michael Crabtree is a “sorry receiver,” Marshawn Lynch saying he is at a press conference so he “won’t get fined,” and David Ortiz’s famous “this is our f—ng city” reference.
I like to think that I am good with words; after all, I am a journalist. But even I cannot find the words to describe the video nor its contents.
So, simply take a look for yourself and fill yourself with the wondrous memories of the past decade before we start the next chapter.
I can't recommend this incredible @SportsCenter recap of sports in the 2010's enough. pic.twitter.com/iVriE565qv
