With the chaos of free agency ongoing all around the NFL, the New England Patriots have signed a few familiar faces to the roster.
Typically, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots do not make sudden roster moves, unless he believes the team will benefit significantly from that player.
Thus, the Pats have not signed any splashy free agents but have re-signed many of their own.
Here’s a look at the following players who have recently been re-signed by New England and one new Patriot added via trade.
Brandon Bolden
Brandon Bolden is no stranger to the Patriots locker room.
The former Dolphin previously spent six years with the Patriots before a one year stint in Miami.
New England decided to sign the running back to a two-year contract setting up a reunion.
One of the strengths that he brings back to New England is his contribution on special teams.
Coach Belichick takes pride in players that can be adaptable in all phases of the game. Bolden carries this ability as a running back and a crucial part of the special team unit.
This upcoming season, expect to see Bolden on the field during key moments.
Jason McCourty
Cornerback, Jason McCourty is ecstatic about returning to the Patriots alongside his twin brother, Devin McCourty for a second season in New England.
The Patriots initially brought McCourty in on a one-year deal prior to the 2018 season.
One of his more pivotal plays on the season was in Super Bowl 53 against the Los Angeles Rams. As Jared Goff launched a sure-fire touchdown into the endzone for Brandin Cooks, McCourty sprinted across the field and broke up the intended pass.

John Simon
As an unsung hero for Super Bowl 53, many fans may not be familiar with outside linebacker, John Simon.
Released by the Indianapolis Colts after being placed on injured reserve, New England felt that he’d bring value to Foxborough.
Simon ended up playing in 11 of the last 13 games for the Patriots. The pass rusher quickly caught the eyes of the coaches.
Throughout the regular season, he recorded 17 tackles and two sacks.
His biggest moment as a Patriot came during Super Bowl 53; as he deflected a pass attempt by Jared Goff.
Simon will now re-join the Pats for the next two seasons on a two-year extension.
Michael Bennett
The one external addition by the Patriots may just be one of the biggest names on the fluid 2019 roster.
The name is none other than a defensive lineman, Michael Bennett. Previously known for his edgy style of play with the Seattle Seahawks, Bennett will be a force for the Patriots defense this year.
Because of his previous experience on a Super Bowl-winning team, he will provide great leadership in the locker room.
As an avid supporter of minority players, he has made it clear that he will continue to uphold his personal beliefs.
Michael Bennett is the older brother to Martellus Bennett, who previously played with the Patriots for two seasons.
It has been speculated that the Bennett brothers would like to play together on the gridiron.
This may be the chance for the Patriots to have multiple sets of siblings on the roster. Only time will tell what Martellus’ decision will be.
