The New Orleans Saints will travel to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears in Week 7.
The Saints lead the all-time series 15-13 and have won the past four. The last time the two teams met was in 2017, and the last time they played in Chicago was in 2015. New Orleans comes into the meeting with only one loss so far to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2, and Chicago enters this matchup 3-2 following a bye week in Week 6. The Bears are favored to win with a 59.5 percent win probability according to the ESPN Football Power Index.
New Orleans defeated Jacksonville 13-6 in Week 6 and has posted 344.7 offensive yards and 340.5 defensive yards a game so far this season. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has completed 109 of 157 passes for 1089 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 98.4 rating.
Alvin Kamara has 86 carries for 373 yards and one touchdown but will be out Sunday while Michael Thomas has recorded 53 receptions for 632 yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive side, Cameron Jordan leads the team with five sacks and Marcus Williams has posted two interceptions this season. Kicker Will Lutz has contributed 50 points so far this season, missing only one PAT 11/12 and one field goal attempts 13/14.
Teddy Bridgewater completed 24 of 46 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown in week six and is undefeated as the Saints’ starting quarterback so far this season. Bridgewater has won his past three starts against Chicago, and in his last meeting versus the Bears, he was playing for Minnesota and recorded four touchdowns for a 154.6 rating and recorded a rush touchdown as well.
Running back Latavius Murray has posted 35 rush touchdowns since 2015, also a record, the fourth-most in the NFL. The Saints are going to need it in place of the injured Kamara. Wide receiver Michael Thomas led the Saints with eight catches for 89 yards last week against the Jaguars and has 20 games with eight or more catches, tied for most by a play in his first four seasons. Thomas is going for his fourth games in a row against an NFC North opponent with 75-plus receiving yards and he leads the NFL in receptions and ranks second in receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Cameron Jordan recorded two sacks and two tackles for loss last week, which was his 16th career game with two or more sacks. He is aiming for his third game in a row with a sack and has six pass deflections, five tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception in his past six games against an NFC North team.
Cornerback Marshon Lattimore posted three pass deflections and an interception last week against Jacksonville, is going for his fourth game in a row with two or more pass deflections and is one of three cornerbacks with 35-plus pass deflections and eight or more interceptions since 2017. Finishing up for the Saints is linebacker Demario Davis who recorded 11 tackles, a pass deflection and a fumble recovery in his only career game against the Bears, playing with the New York Jets.
The Bears come into this matchup at home following a bye week in Week 6, and a 24-21 loss against Oakland in London, England in Week 5. The Bears have posted 266 offensive yards and 312.2 defensive yards per game so far this season, and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has posted 69 of 106 completed passes for 588 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and an 81.0 rating on the season. Rookie David Montgomery has posted 69 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns, and Allen Robinson rounds out the offense with 21 catches for 377 yards and two touchdowns thus far.
In quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s last 10 starts at home, he is 8-2 with 10 touchdowns and a rating of 91.8 on the books. Trubisky is going for his third game in a row against the NFC South with 50-plus yards and has six touchdowns.
David Montgomery posted his second career rush touchdown last week, and Tarik Cohen has a rush touchdown recorded in the last meeting. Cohen has 357 scrimmage yards and two receiving touchdowns in three career games against an NFC South opponent and is going for his third in a row versus the NFC South with a touchdown.
Allen Robinson led the Bears with seven receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 and has six or more catches in his last five of six games. Robinson is aiming for his third game in a row with seven or more receptions with 75-plus receiving yards and has recorded six catches for 151 yards and a receiving touchdown in his only game against New Orleans when he played for Jacksonville.
Linebacker Khalil Mack had a fumble recovery in Week 5 and is going for his fourth game in a row again the NFC South a sack and a forced fumble. Mack also has 10 sacks, eight tackles for loss and six forced fumbles in nine home games with Chicago. Danny Trevathan led the Bears with 12 tackles two weeks ago and is going for his fifth game in a row with eight or more tackles.
Cornerback Kyle Fuller is going for his ninth game in a row at home with a pass deflection, and since 2017 has led the league with 49 pass deflections. Lastly, safety Eddie Jackson has recorded three interceptions and six pass deflections in his last five games at home and is going for his third game in a row at home versus the NFC South with an interception.
The two teams will kick off at 4:25 EST on Fox.
