The Holy Cross Crusaders fell to the Navy Midshipmen 61-56 in what was their first overtime game of the season.

Defense was the main story of the night for both teams, as both teams scored less than 30 points in each half of the game. Both Navy (12-6, 3-2) and Holy Cross had an off night shooting wise, as they shot 39 and 38 percent from the field respectively.
Junior forward Karl Charles was the only Crusader to achieve double-digit points in the game, as he led the team with 10 points. Freshman Austin Butler, Jacob Grandison, and Kyle Copeland all had nine points. Grandison also had nine rebounds and five assists, leading the team in both categories.

Navy was led by Junior Forward George Kiernan who scored 13 points, while guards Bryce Dulin and Hasan Abdullah both scored 10. Senior forward Tom Lacey led the Midshipmen with 12 rebounds, his highest tally of the season.
Crusaders’ forward Patrick Benzan sent the two teams into overtime after he completed a late three-point play to knot both teams at 48 when regulation ended. The Crusaders never led the game in overtime due to a 7-0 run from Navy to open the overtime period.
The Crusaders (4-12, 1-4) are tied for last in the Patriot League and next face off at home against Boston University (8-8, 4-1) in a Patriot League and Turnpike Trophy matchup on Jan. 14 at 1:05 p.m.
