This weekend, Supercross takes place on the east coast for the final time of the season. The location; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts, which is just the third time ever Supercross will take place at the current home of the New England Patriots. A region and stadium that knows about championships very well, will likely see not one, but two Supercross Champions crowned on Saturday afternoon. Firstly is Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence, who looks to win the 250 Eastern Regional Title, in what would be his first crown in Supercross. Then there is Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Eli Tomac, looking for 450 Supercross Championship No. 2. Here is how both can secure their respective titles in just a matter of days.

For Lawrence to clinch the 250 East Championship
Lawrence has the easier path of the two riders this weekend, much easier in fact. Entering this weekend, he is up 47 points over Rockstar Husqvarna’s R.J. Hampshire with just one race after this weekend in the east. Seeing as Lawrence already has the wins tiebreaker already locked up (4-wins to-1), that also helps out big time. With that in mind, all the Australian would need to clinch his first Supercross Championship is to finish 18th or better. Lawrence has yet to finish off the podium this season, so the odds of this coming to fruition are rather high. This would be his second AMA title, after winning last year’s 250 Motocross title over Justin Cooper by just six points.
For Tomac to clinch the 450 Class Championship
As alluded to, Tomac’s path is a bit more complex to get to his second title. Jason Anderson of Monster Energy Kawasaki sits over two rounds back of Tomac after Atlanta, 53 points to be exact. The other wrinkle into this situation is Justin Barcia of TLD/Red Bull GasGas, who is still mathematically in the title hunt with three rounds remaining.
The easiest way for Tomac to win the 450 Championship is to simply outrun both Anderson, as well as Barcia. However, Tomac can still run one spot behind Anderson and still win the title, as long as it isn’t for any of the podium positions, as El Hombre needs two or more points to stay alive. For the Cortez, Colorado native, this would be his seventh total AMA Championship in his storied career, but just his third in Supercross. Tomac won the 2012 250 West Championship over Dean Wilson and the 2020 450 Championship over Cooper Webb.
