Every week billions of dollars are wagered on the NFL. The most popular type of bet is the spread. Each week there are a few games with an appealing spread and others with an ugly spread. To help bettors figure out which spreads they should bet on and which to avoid, two of our NFL writers, Mike Fanelli and Dale Money, give their take on every spread for each of this weekend’s games.

To recap, last week, Mike finished with a 6-7 record while Dale finished 10-3. For the year, Mike is 84-106-2 while Dale is 100-90-2. Let’s take a look at their picks for Week 15.

The Team to Bet

Mike: Dallas Cowboys -11

While the Cowboys haven’t been clicking on offense recently, they have won two games in a row over playoff-caliber teams. More importantly, the Cowboys have a 7-2 record against the spread as the favored team this season. They have covered the spread in three of the past four games as the favored team, all by at least seven points. Furthermore, the Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 44-20 earlier this season, covering the seven-point spread. This week, the Giants will be without Daniel Jones and other critical players on their roster. The Cowboys are only one game out from a tie for the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture. Expect them to come away with a two-touchdown victory this week.

Dale: Indianapolis Colts -2.5

So far, the Patriots have had an excellent season. However, this week they will face the Indianapolis Colts. Over their past four games, the Colts have been one of the more dangerous teams in the NFL. Their defense could cause trouble for Mac Jones as they are first in the NFL in turnover ratio (plus 13). Furthermore, the Patriots won’t have it easy against running back Jonathan Taylor. The second-year running back has been unstoppable over the past 10 games. Furthermore, he had seven rushing touchdowns and over 400 yards in the past three games. With their defense and running game clicking, expect the Colts to win by a touchdown.

The Team to Avoid

Mike: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -11.5

Despite being the favored team in every game this season, the Buccaneers have struggled to cover the spread. They are only 7-6 against the spread this season and have struggled when favored by over six points. When the Buccaneers have been six or more points favorites this season, they have only a 5-4 record against the spread. However, they are 8-1 straight up in those contests. More importantly, the Buccaneers were four-point favorites against the New Orleans Saints earlier this season. Despite losing Jameis Winston during the game, the Saints won 36-27. While Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will win this game, expect the Saints to make it a hard-fought victory. Take the Saints plus the points.

Dale: Tennessee Titans +1

With so many of his weapons missing several games this season, Ryan Tannehill has struggled to put up big numbers. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown will be out again this week, leaving Tannehill with a limited supporting cast. Last week the Titans won 20-0 over the Jacksonville Jaguars despite Tannehill throwing for under 200 yards. While the Titans are sitting pretty comfortably with a 9-4, the Pittsburgh Steelers must win this game to stay in the playoff hunt. Ben Roethlisberger has played well lately. He should have no trouble leading the Steelers to a victory past the undermanned Tennessee team.
