Week 14 NFL Rookie Rankings

NFL Rookies Javonte Williams

Many rookies were deserving of spots on the list for this week, probably the greatest amount of the season. A ton of first-year players had productive performances for their teams. Some rookies had great outings and were tough to leave off. The group below is consisted of mostly offensive players for this week. Let’s take a look at the 10 best rookies heading into Week 14.

No 10. Zach Wilson, QB, New York Jets

Wilson had one of his best performances yet. Despite the home loss, he showed some very encouraging things early on in the game. He helped lead the Jets’ offense to three touchdowns to start the game. He made some very good throws. Wilson finished the game with 226 passing yards and three total touchdowns, two of which were passing. A strong finish to the season for Wilson would be crucial for the Jets.

No 9. Elijah Moore, WR, New York Jets

Wilson’s main target in this one, Moore just continues to build on his promising first year as a Jet. He saw the football come his way 12 times in the passing game, catching six of them for 77 yards. Moore also had nine yards rushing on an end-around. He finished the game with 86 total yards. His speed, route running, hands, and ability to be dynamic with the ball in his hands were all on display in this one. The Jets have got a great one in Moore.

No 8. Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Gainwell had an impressive performance helping the Eagles get a much-needed win. In the running game, he had 12 carries go for 54 yards and a touchdown. As a receiver in the passing game, he was productive catching all five of his targets for 33 yards. On the day, Gainwell finished with a total of 17 touches for 87 yards. Gainwell has done some good things for Philly in year one.

No 7. Creed Humphrey, C, Kansas City Chiefs

Humphrey continued to build on his strong rookie season for the Chiefs helping the team win its fifth straight. Even though it was not the best outing for the Chiefs offense that is typically expected, Humphrey gave solid contributions in the trenches. On the ground, he helped Kansas City have a good enough game running the football. He also graded out well as a pass blocker. Humphrey continues to prove himself as one of the best centers in the game.

No 6. Penei Sewell, OT, Detroit Lions

Sewell continued his dominance as of late and helped the Lions get their first win of the season, also the first of Sewell’s young career. He graded out exceptionally well across the board. Sewell helped the Lions’ offense have one of their best performances all year. He helped the rushing attack have an efficient game. As a pass blocker, Sewell continues to practically shut his opponent out. Detroit had a good day throwing the football. Sewell has been outstanding for the Lions as he is already one of the better tackles throughout the league.

No 5. Nate Hobbs, CB, Las Vegas Raiders

Hobbs has had an impressive rookie year for the Raiders and likely had his best performance yet last week. Despite a disappointing home loss for the Raiders, Hobbs did a great job of filling out the stat sheet. He recorded both an interception and pass breakup on the day for the Raiders defense. Hobbs also finished with nine total tackles, one of which was a tackle for loss. Hobbs’ rookie season has been an encouraging one for the Raiders.

No 4. Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins

Waddle had yet another great performance for the Dolphins helping his team win five in a row. Waddle saw 11 passes come his way, finishing with nine catches for 90 yards. The Dolphins offense had some problems in this one. Without Waddle’s strong outing, the final score could have been different. He led the Dolphins in receiving by a big margin. His rookie season continues to be impressive.

3. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions

St. Brown had a great game for the Lions as it was his best game to date. He led the Lions in receiving as he was targeted 12 times, finishing with 10 catches for 86 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Along with his teammate Sewell, St. Brown got the first win of his career thanks to his own clutch play. His rookie season has been a good one. Going forward, he should be a key piece to the Lions team as they look to keep winning.

No 2. Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami Dolphins

Phillips continued his recent dominance in the Dolphins win Sunday. He finished the game with three total tackles, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Phillips’ contributions helped the Dolphins defense put together a fantastic outing that led the team to victory. The talented pass rusher now has eight and a half sacks on the year. Phillips is a foundational piece for the Dolphins’ defense going forward.

No 1. Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos

Williams got the first start of his career on Sunday night and delivered in a big way. He was a dual-threat for the Broncos offense. As a runner, he had 23 carries for 102 yards, nearly four and a half yards per carry. Williams was featured in a big way in the passing game. He was targeted nine times, catching six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. In total, Williams recorded 29 touches for 178 scrimmage yards. Williams put together a tremendous game and should only build on it for the Broncos.
