S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night. The Bay City Rollers are calling. In honor of the NFL Draft being held in Cleveland, home of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, we have a Saturday song list to go with our usual values for our six-game slate in MLB DFS tonight starting at 7:00 pm ET. To paraphrase Elton John, Saturday night’s alright for betting, so get a little action in.
***All Prices Are DraftKings***
On the Bump
Eddie “Van Halen” Rodriguez $8,700 at Texas Rangers
Jump on the Red Sox left-hander tonight. Rodriguez has continued to improve after missing last season. In 2019 he led the league in walks with 75 but also threw 203.1 innings and struck out 213, both career highs. This year the 28-year-old southpaw has erupted for an excellent 26/2 K/BB rate. He’s won all four of his starts and has not put up fewer than 19.7 DK points in any game. Right now, the ace is rolling so lock him in.
L “L Cool” jay Newsome $5,100 vs. Los Angeles Angels
Newsome has been doin’ it this season out of the bullpen. Today he gets his first start and he is nearly the cheapest pitcher. It may seem that Newsome won’t last long, but he tossed four innings and threw 54 pitches in his last outing. While the Angels have some pop, their lineup has been slumping a bit, scoring more than four runs just once over their last nine games. The discount is great and Newsome looks like a great play especially in GPPs. He just needs love.
On the Dirt
Jared “Joe” Walsh 1B $4,300
The season’s been good to Walsh so far. In the 22 games where he has had a plate appearance, he’s only been hitless in three. He is on a modest four-game hitting streak and is 7-for-15 in those contests. He may be the new kid in town, finishing seventh in Rookie of the Year voting last year, but the left-handed first baseman has an impressive .947 OPS. Getting him in your lineups for that peaceful easy feeling of guaranteed points.
Austin “Baba O'”Riley 3B $4,200
The Atlanta Braves third baseman is showing why he was a first-round pick in 2015. The big righty is mashing lately as he’s gone 9-for19 with a homer on his current five-game hitting streak. It looks like the Toronto Blue Jays will be going with a couple of lefties in this one in Travis Bergen and Tommy “Pinball Wizard” Milone. Although Riley hasn’t fared well this year against southpaws, he has nine moonshots in 135 PAs in his career off of them.
Kolten Wong “Chung” 2B $4,000
Since the Brew Crew’s second baseman returned to the lineup on April 23, he’s gone 13-for-29 with a couple of bombs and a stolen base. While he has a tough opponent tonight in Dustin May, Wong is still a solid value at his price. I’d expect him to have low ownership so get him in your tournaments and everybody have fun tonight.
On the Grass
Joey “Ramone” Gallo OF $3,600
On the surface, it looks like you would be a pinhead to start Gallo. A deeper look though tells us that the big Texas slugger hits lefties better than righties in his career. He has 562 PAs versus the same side and has blasted 39 HRs with a solid 10.9 percent walk rate. Because Gallo is facing Rodriguez tonight, his price is a little lower than normal. However, he has two bombs in three tries against Boston’s ace. You are going to wanna be sedated if you don’t get Gallo into a few lineups tonight.
Charlie “Daniels” Blackmon OF $3,500
Chuck Nazty hasn’t been all that nasty and he gets a devil of an opponent in Zac Gallen tonight. Even so, all of Blackmon’s extra-base hits (six doubles, one HR) have come against right-handers and he’s walked eight times in 66 PAs. On top of that, the Colorado Rockies’ right fielder is 7-for-12 with a couple of two-baggers against Gallen in his career. You can bet your soul against a fiddle of gold that Blackmon goes yard tonight.
Rock on and good luck.
