Buffalo Bills Post Free Agency Seven Round Mock Draft

The Buffalo Bills hold the 30th pick in the upcoming draft following winning the AFC East and losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. The Bills have one of the most complete rosters in all of football but they still have needs across the board as they try to win their first Super Bowl in their history. They made some interesting moves in free agency, including signing former Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to backup Josh Allen, running back Matt Breida, and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. There are a number of different directions that they can go at the end of the month.

For this mock draft, I used  The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator.

Round 1, Pick 30: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

Cornerback is one of the weakest positions on the Bills roster currently and they should attack it in the first round. If not for injury concerns, Farley wouldn’t even be an option for the Bills at 30th overall. Adam Schefter recently reported that the 22-year-old tested well in his recent physical which could push him further up. But if he in fact falls, the reward far outweighs the risk for Buffalo. The addition of Farley would create a great duo opposite Tre’Davious White.

Round 2, Pick 61: Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami

Dawson Knox has been a solid starting tight end for the Bills, but there is always room for improvement. Adding depth is important for a team with as much talent as Buffalo has. Jordan is a dynamic pass-catching receiver who does a great job of creating space and running after the catch. A tight end duo of Jordan and Knox would be exciting and would really open up plays for Allen.

Round 3, Pick 93: Quincy Roche, EDGE, Miami

The Bills currently have Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison as their starting edge rushers, who will be 33 and 34, respectively, when the season kicks off. With that said, there are several options in the draft that they can target. Roche would be a steal this late in the third round as he has a lot of solid intangibles and really no weaknesses. He would create tremendous depth for the Bills and possibly make an impact from day one.

Round 5, Pick 161: Javian Hawkins, RB, Louisville

Devin Singletary and Zack Moss have been solid for the Bills’ run game, but neither has the blazing breakaway speed that Hawkins has. Last month, Buffalo met with the back virtually, so they definitely have an interest. Hawkins showed an ability to catch the ball in 2020, as 16 of 21 of his receptions came last season. In 2019, he rushed for a Louisville single-season record 1,525 yards. Hawkins wouldn’t replace Singletary, but he would create more on offense as a situational, third-down type back. The running back is crowded with the addition of Brieda, but you can never have too much depth.

Round 5, Pick 174: Cornell Powell, WR, Clemson

The Bills cut John Brown to save cap space as they lose one of their top downfield threats. They still have a number of solid options in the passing game, including Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Cole Beasley, and the recently acquired Sanders. But more depth could still be added and Powell is a guy who can help along the boundary. He also has the flexibility to play in the slot and could turn out to be a sleeper in this draft.

Round 6, Pick 213: Justin Hilliard, LB, Ohio State

Matt Milano was retained by the Bills for a four-contract, but adding depth is so important with his injury history. Hillard is much like Milano, including injury concerns as well. But this late in the draft, there’s no harm in taking a flyer on someone who could be very solid if he can stay healthy.

Round 7, Pick 236: Paris Ford, S, Pittsburgh

The Bills brought back Micah Hyde on a two-year extension, so they are set at safety for the next few years. Again, beating the dead horse, adding depth is so important. They can potentially find value with their last pick here. Ford is an interesting prospect with a lot of great abilities, but he lacks the ideal size for the safety position. He can also get a little too aggressive at times. But with the right coaching, he could turn into a stud. Sit him behind Hyde and Tre White, and he could be groomed for a potential Pro-Bowl safety in a few years. The Bills are the perfect fit for him to develop right and keep the Bills consistently building for the present and future.
