?The Chicago Fire easily dispatched the New England Revolution in the Windy City with a 4-1 win Saturday.
The victory extended their at-home win streak to nine games.
Chicago’s Matt Polster makes it 1-0
A long crossing ball from Joao Meira at the halfway line found Matt Polster open who took on Kelyn Rowe and Diego Fagundez. Polster got himself open outside the 18-yard box, where he struck with the outside of his foot. This shot split Antonio Mlinar Delemea, Gershon Koffie and Benjamin Angoua to find the lower left corner of the goal past Cody Cropper in the eighth minute.
Cropper poor distribution leads to good effort by Nikolic
In the 16th minute, Cropper made a poor pass out from a goal kick to a waiting Michael De Leeuw who passed to David Accam. Accam found Nemanja Nikolic with a feed going away from the goal inside the 18-yard box. Nikolic turned toward the net and fired a great shot at Cropper who found the strength to keep it out.
Koffie to Fagundez, Simple Shot
Koffie found himself in ample space and searched out Diego Fagundez outside of the 18-yard box. Fagundez turned towards goal and shot but was turned away.
Kamara ties it at 1 with his head
Lee Nguyen crossed a free kick into the box from 20 yards out to a rising Kei Kamara who nodded the ball past Fire goalkeeper Matt Lampson to the right corner in the 24th minute to notch the score 1-1.
Juninho’s first goal with Fire makes it 2-1
Bastian Schweinsteiger sent a small chip to Patrick Doody who then made a pass to through a Bastian Schweinsteiger dummy to Victor Gomes Pereira Juninho, who drilled it in the lower left corner past Cropper. Juninho’s goal placed Chicago Fire in the lead in the 39th minute.
De Leeuw Scores Header From Doody’s Second Assist 3-1
In the 49th minute, Michael De Leeuw easily nodded a goal to the left of Cropper who wasn’t ready to make a save. Patrick Doody’s second assist of the game extended the Fire’s lead to 3-1..
Missed chance
In the 60th munute, Juan Agudelo sent a pass to Fagundez, who made a move towards goal with a few step-overs and then dragged two defenders out. Faguendez was able to thread a pass to Teal Bunbury inside the 18-yard box, who then tried to shoot past the Fire goalkeeper to left, but he narrowly missed.
Solignac Puts Game Out of Reach in Stoppage Time
Doody made a move around Delemea to take a shot from the left side of the six-yard box to the lower right corner of the goal to pad the Fire’s lead at 4-1.
