5 Bruins Aiming for Milestones This Season

The Boston Bruins season is just around the corner. After the last season, the Bruins should be aiming for at least repeating their recent successes. However, it´s not going to be easy. With help from a few proven veterans, the process might get a little bit easier, though.

There are many Bruins players on the milestone radar. Let´s start at the top. The Bruins captain Zdeno Chara has played in 955 games with them. Hitting 1000-game milestone with the Bruins organization will certainly be a nicely-looking moment. Barring any big injuries or setbacks, Chara should hit that 1000-game plateau in January. If he won’t miss a single game, he should play in his 1000th Bruins game on January 10 versus the Winnipeg Jets.

Let’s continue on a high note. Patrice Bergeron has already played in his 1000th NHL game. He currently has 1028 games played with the Bruins, which is fourth-best. He needs 24 appearances more to surpass Don Sweeney.  Pushing through Johnny Bucyk in the second spot with 1436 appearances, and Ray Bourque with 1518 contests, is going to be much tougher to accomplish. However, it´s not impossible for Bergeron.

Brad Marchand sits on 559 points in 681 games with the B´s. That´s more than clear that Marchand will likely reach 600 points and 700 games played rather soon. That shouldn’t be a problem for the 31-year-old forward.

David Krejci has played in 850 games with the Bruins so far in his career. Reaching a 900-game mark will almost undoubtedly happen during the upcoming season. The Czech center likewise needs only six goals to hit the 200-goal mark. Krejci can also become the eight-best Bruins point-getter in history. To accomplish that he needs 31 more points, as he presently sits on 643 point-mark.

We started this list with a defenseman, and we finish it with a defenseman. However, Torey Krug is 14 years younger than Big Zee. He has appeared in 462 regular-season games with the Bruins, that means reaching 500-game mark should be well within his grasp. Krug also has 288 points, very close to the 300-point plateau. Getting to number 303, Krug will become the Bruins sixth-best ever defenseman on the point-production list. He will have a 347-point record to exceed next to become the fifth-most productive Bruins blueliner.
