The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine had its second day in a row of media availability for head coaches and general managers. Highlighting the speakers were Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Caroll and San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch. There was plenty of more news on the quarterback front Wednesday, with multiple teams making statements on the future of their quarterback rooms.

Latest on the NFC West Quarterbacks
In Seattle, Carroll adamantly denied any rumors surrounding a potential Russell Wilson trade, saying the Seahawks have, ”no intention of making a move there,” but have received calls about the 10-year veteran. Down the west coast, the 49ers have quite the quarterback controversy going on. After announcing that Jimmy Garoppolo would be having major shoulder surgery, Lynch fielded plenty of questions about their future at quarterback. Lynch praised Trey Lance so much on an NFL Network appearance earlier in the day that he had to try and justify their current commitment to Garoppolo on Wednesday afternoon.
John Lynch on Jimmy G: “Jimmy is a big part of what we’ve done, is still apart of us, and until that changes we are blessed that he is,we have had discussions with teams and will continue to, but as of right now he’s apart of us.” #49ers #NFLCombine pic.twitter.com/xJk2XuuxtM

Quarterback News in the State of Maryland
In Washington, head coach Ron Rivera was not afraid to commit to a quarterback search, saying that the Commanders “absolutely need a veteran” at the quarterback position. With their starting currently being Taylor Heinicke, Washington clearly feels the need to be actively shopping the NFL market for trades and free agent additions at that position.
While we were in the Maryland neighborhood, Baltimore Ravens’ general manager Eric DeCosta spoke about a potential extension with quarterback Lamar Jackson saying that he spoke “fairly recently” with Jackson about an extension. “I think it takes two sides to actively put their heads together and get a deal worked out. We are ready to be there for Lamar at any point. When he decides that he really wants to work on it, we will be,” said DeCosta.
Trade Market Updates
The new Dolphins head coach, McDaniel, spoke about Tua Tagovailoa in length on Wednesday. McDaniel said that Tagovailoa has “skills that are untapped” and after watching extensive film with his staff, the Dolphins decided to “close the door” on talks about Houston Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Unfortunately for Green Bay Packers fans and those annoyed from hearing about it, head coach Matt LaFleur has no news on Aaron Rodgers. LaFleur said that he is doing his best to give Rodgers the space he needs to make a decision, although LaFleur has spoken to his veteran quarterback since the season ended.
With the official head coach and general manager availability over for the week, all the attention will turn to the prospects.
