2022 NFL Combine: Breece Hall and Hassan Haskins Interviews

NFL Combine: Breece Hall

On Thursday, the running back prospects met with the media from the Indiana Convention Center at the NFL Combine. While running backs are not usually super sought after in the draft (unless your name is Saquon Barkley), there are still some talented guys in this group. None of them will likely be picked in round one, but there could be some interest on day two of the NFL Draft. Breece Hall and Hassan Haskins are two names that should get a lot of intrigue from NFL teams. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Focusing on The Little Things

Iowa State’s Hall has one of the best overall games of any of the backs in this draft class. He can do it all and is a legitimate three-down back with the build necessary for the position. Pass protection and blocking are a part of Hall’s game that has evolved since freshman year. It is something he feels is now right in line with the rest of his game, as he has been taught to do the little things right.

“Coming into college as a 17-year old coming out of high school, you don’t really know what pass blocking is,” Hall said. “You don’t know the technique of it and you don’t know why you have to do it. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that you can really make your money protecting the quarterback. My coaches have always taught me to do all the little things right and my catching ability will take over.”

Most Talented Running Back?

Hall has also met with a number of teams, including the Eagles. He felt that the meeting and all his meetings went well as he was able to prove to everyone that he is who he says he is.

“It was good,” Hall said of the Eagles meeting. “I feel like every meeting I had went pretty good. Just as far as me being able to talk and prove that I am who I say I am. It was really good for me to get up on the board and show that I can draw up runs, draw up defensive fronts, pass protection, and all that type of stuff.”

Hall also made four out of five free throws when the Eagles had him shoot on a mini hoop. This is what they’ve been having all the prospects do that they’ve met with at the combine. He also stated that he feels he is the best running back in the draft as no one can match his resume.

“I feel like, over the last two years, no running back has been able to do what I’ve been able to do,” Hall said. “I really respect those other guys’ games, they’re really great. Isaiah [Spiller], I really like watching his game. I just feel like I’m the best running back in this draft.”

Hassan Haskins On Sharing The Rock

The Michigan product has a lot of great things in his skillset and isn’t afraid to run people over. Haskins set a Michigan record for touchdowns in a season with 20 last season. The 6’1″, 220-pound back ran through people as a hard, strong runner and hurdled opponents.

“I feel like I’m a power back, I’ve got everything in the toolbag,” Haskins said. “I like being the hammer, not the nail, I like going through people.”

Haskins and Blake Corum, referred to as “Thunder and Lightning” by themselves, shared carries for most of the season. Corum was the leading rusher on the team until he suffered a high-ankle sprain in the November 6 game against Indiana. This led to Haskins’ workload increasing and he showed a lot of success. He spoke about what it was like to have a shared workload with a back like Corum.

Haskins suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Orange Bowl which is why he skipped the Senior Bowl. He is not sure if he will do all of the workouts at the combine this week, but is ready to bring it if he’s able.

Stay tuned for more NFL Combine updates the remainder of this week into the weekend!
