Supercross made its return to the Lone Star state, for the second of three triple crown rounds in Dallas. An interesting time for this to happen, as this is only the second round of the 250 East Championship. Jett Lawrence took home last week’s opener over Austin Forkner to kick things off, while Jason Anderson picked up his third win of the year in Minneapolis. Chase Sexton meanwhile, who wrecked out of the lead coming to the white flag, was on the bike and looking as fast as he’s been all season as well.

Happy Anniversary
Although Supercross was at AT&T Stadium in Dallas last night, one of the wildest finishes in Supercross history had its 10th anniversary on Saturday Night. That of course being Atlanta 2011 with James Stewart, Chad Reed, Ryan Villopoto, and Ryan Dungey. Hard to explain it, so here’s the video. If you’ve never seen this have fun.

No. 48 Cameron McAdoo – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki (2-3-1 for 1st)
It’s not always about being the best every night. Although McAdoo was far from bad, a number of mistakes from Lawrence ultimately sealed the deal for him to pick up his first win of the year. His third Main Event win was a no-doubter from the second he took the lead in the early goings, and a pair of podium finishes before didn’t hurt. Now McAdoo will share the red plate going into Daytona Supercross next weekend, where he won a year ago.
No. 6 Jeremy Martin – Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha (9-2-3 for 2nd)
JMart rallying to second overall for the night more or less got lost in the shuffle, but it was a great comeback for the veteran. Martin now also sits just five points out of the points lead heading into Daytona, which could be a monster round for him. That track should suit him perfectly given his Motocross skill.
No. 18 Jett Lawrence – Honda HRC (4-1-10 for 3rd)
Saturday is one that Lawrence would hopefully want to put behind him as soon as possible. Three critical mistakes, including two in the final Main Event, realistically cost him a 1-1-1 night. Despite holeshoting the opening Main Event, he went down not 10 seconds after in the first bowl corner. Lawrence did however rally to fourth, while almost getting third, then proceeded to win the next Main. In the final Main Event, Lawrence went down before the holeshot line, then cross jumped Forkner off the finish line jump, after he was squirrely on the whoops, then hit a tuff block on the way up the finish jump. All things considered, a third is as good as a win given the circumstances.
No. 33 Austin Forkner – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki (1-4-19 for 7th)
Until Lawrence cross jumped him in Main Event 3, Forkner was all but assured a second straight podium to open up his year. He capitalized on Lawrence’s first Main Event wipeout and took home a win which set him up nicely for the evening. Sadly for him, that did not bear any fruit for the No. 33. His current status is unknown, but as you can see, he took a very hard fall. Here’s to hoping it looked worse than it actually is.

No. 24 R.J. Hampshire – Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing (3-20-DNS for 16th)
Hampshire’s night didn’t go much better than Forkner’s. Late in Main Event 2, the Husky rider went down hard on the landing of the bridge jump, just about the worst spot to go down. Luckily, no other rider hit him, and after a few minutes, he was able to move off track with help. A shame as well, as Hampshire was another rider in line for a good evening.

No. 3 Eli Tomac – Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha (3-2-2 for 1st)
ET3 somehow, someway, went from having his worst start of the season in Main Event 1, to winning the Overall by the end of the night. Although the case can effortlessly be made that Anderson was better on this night, Tomac was able to rectify his one mistake. In doing so, he doubles his points lead over El Hombre from three to six, and picks up career win No. 40. He now sits one back of Villopoto heading into his yard, Daytona International Speedway. Tomac has won Daytona Supercross 5-out of-7 times in his 450 career, with the two others being second-place runs.
No. 21 Jason Anderson – Monster Energy Kawasaki (6-1-1 for 2nd)
If not for a failed pass attempt that took out Malcolm Stewart along with himself, El Hombre would have put up just the second 1-1-1 Triple Crown performance in Supercross history. Anderson outran Tomac in the latter two Main Events, but that sixth to open his night cost him dearly. The good news is he only losses three points, but keep those in mind in case this Championship comes down to the wire.
No. 1 Cooper Webb – Red Bull KTM (1-4-4 for 3rd)
Safe to say that Webb has gotten back into the groove, picking up his second straight podium. He ended up being the biggest beneficiary of the Anderson-Stewart tangle-up, as he wouldn’t have won the opening 450 Main Event without that happening. Sometimes, however, it is just about being in the right place at the right time, and that was the case for Webb.
No. 23 Chase Sexton – Honda HRC (4-3-5 for 4th)
By the way, he ran last night, you would have never guessed that Sexton spent part of the week in concussion protocol. He just missed out on a podium spot to Webb, but the No. 1 stealing the opening Main Event was a big part of that. Heading into Daytona knowing that he is basically at 100-percent, look for Sexton to continue his successful ways.
No. 94 Ken Roczen – Honda HRC (16-9-16 for 13th)
Saturday for Roczen was the ride of a guy who is about as mentally checked out as humanly possible. Yes he had an entanglement with Marvin Musquin in Main Event 3, but it wasn’t like he was riding with a purpose either. Still feels like we have more questions than answers on the Roczen front. Must be some reason for this abysmal stretch that we don’t know of yet.
