2022 Bold Predictions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a strange offseason. Initially, they entered the offseason thinking they would be in a search for a new franchise quarterback. Then, Tom Brady magically un-retired and allowed them to get right back to work by resigning other players and looking for ways to get better. They brought back Leonard Fournette, franchise-tagged Chris Godwin, and made a few other small-scale signings. The Buccaneers aim to enter the 2022 season just as strong as the last one, but it may be without Rob Gronkowski. Here are some bold predictions for them entering the 2022 season.

Mike Evans Has 15 Receiving Touchdowns

Evans has been a favorite of Brady’s since he came to the Buccaneers. However, some injuries have limited Evans here and there. If healthy, Evans is a lethal red zone target and creates major mismatches for opposing teams. Bringing back Godwin and signing Russell Gage gives Evans even more breathing room as the top target on the team. Coming off a season where he had 14 receiving touchdowns, he will do it again in 2022 with at least one more.

Leonard Fournette Leads the NFL in Rushing Touchdowns

This may come off like it’s impossible, or that other running backs can outshine Fournette. However, the Buccaneers are going to reach the red zone plenty of times this coming season. If Fournette can play a full season, with limited injuries, he’s in for a big season. With the way the Buccaneers utilize his and Brady’s confidence in him continually growing, he will have the most opportunities across the league to reach the endzone.

Carlton Davis has Over Five Interceptions

Davis has been a reliable corner for the Buccaneers the past few seasons. He has continually shown growth each year. Unfortunately, some injuries have been an issue. If those are in the past, Davis will have a big year for the 2022 defense. He will have over five interceptions, making it his best season yet. He has one season of four interceptions thus far. However, Davis will outshine many corners this upcoming season and the interceptions won’t be the only reason.

The Buccaneers will Win the NFC South

They enter the season as one of two teams that have a realistic chance at winning the NFC South. The other team is the New Orleans Saints. They have the same quarterback, but some new weapons on offense and shiny new toys on defense. The Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers won’t be able to compete against these two teams and the battle for the division will come down to the wire. The Buccaneers will prevail and win another title in what could be Brady’s last tour in the NFL.
