Patriots-Broncos postponed to Week 6

The Patriots’ game against the Broncos this week has been postponed to Week 6 after defensive tackle Byron Cowart became the sixth New England player to test positive for COVID-19. Week 5 will serve as the teams’ byes.

Titans’ facility shuts down

The Titans announced a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The Titans, who are scheduled to play the Bills on Tuesday, will temporarily shut down their facility again.

NFL shuts down Patriots’ facility

In a major turn of events, the NFL has shut down the Patriots’ facility just 36 hours before their home game against the Denver Broncos, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. New England will undergo further testing as they await direction from the NFL.

Chase Young will suit up against Rams

Washington defensive end Chase Young (groin) is expected to return to action this week against the Rams, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Mixon good to go vs. Ravens

Bengals running back Joe Mixon (shin) will be active against the Ravens on Sunday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Raiders optimistic on Ruggs, Brown

The Raiders have not made a decision on Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs (knee/hamstring, questionable) but are hopeful that he will suit up on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The team also remains optimistic that right tackle Trent Brown (calf) can play.

Samuel, Mostert will play Sunday

49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (non-COVID illness) and running back Raheem Mostert (knee) are both expected to be active on Sunday after fetching questionable designations on Friday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jackson, Brown, Andrews among injured stars set to play for Ravens

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (knee/illness, questionable), tight end Mark Andrews (thigh), and wide receiver Marquise Brown (knee) are all expected to play against the Bengals on Sunday. Cornerbacks Marcus Peters (thigh) and Jimmy Smith (knee) and tackle Ronnie Stanley (shoulder/hip) are also expected to suit up, according to Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Julio Jones a gametime decision

The Falcons aren’t expected to make a final decision on wide receiver Julio Jones‘s status until they evaluate him pre-game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jets wide receiver Breshad Perriman (ankle, questionable) is expected to be inactive against the Cardinals on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 49ers have placed cornerback K’Waun Williams and defensive end Ezekiel Ansah on IR.

Cam Newton could play Monday?

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, it’s still “in the realm of possibility” that quarterback Cam Newton (COVID-19) plays on Monday. Bill Belichick has yet to comment on the former MVP’s status.

Isaiah Wilson activated

The Titans are activating offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson off the COVID-19 list, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The rookie spent 34 days being inactive after his original placement on the list in early September. Practice squad cornerback Greg Mabin was also activated from the COVID-19 list.

Jets officially activate Le’Veon Bell

As expected, the Jets activated running back Le’Veon Bell (hamstring) from IR.

Phillip Lindsay 100 percent for Monday

Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay says his toe is 100 percent. He told reporters, “I feel good … toe is 100 percent, I’m ready to get back out there and get some wins.” Lindsay is on track to suit up against the Patriots on Monday night.

Jets receive false positive

The New York Jets announced that they received a presumptive positive COVID-19 test results on Friday that was later deemed to be a false positive. The Jets sent everyone home on Friday when they learned of the positive test but are now good to go for Sunday’s game after extended testing cleared everything up.

Garoppolo good to go for Week 5

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has been named the team’s starter for their Week 5 game against Miami. Garoppolo ended up missing just two games after suffering a high-ankle sprain in New York back in Week 2.

NFL alters schedule to change Broncos-Patriots, Bills-Titans, Bills-Chiefs

The NFL has pushed back the Broncos-Patriots game to 5:00 p.m. on Monday after three players tested positive for COVID-19 in less than one week. Bills-Titans was pushed back to Tuesday in the aftermath of the Titans’ outbreak. With the Bills set to play on Tuesday night, their Thursday night clash with the Chiefs was pushed back to Sunday in Week 6.

12th, 13th Titans players test positive

The Titans received their 13th positive case of COVID-19 on Thursday morning, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Additionally, the team received word that their 12th positive case was confirmed after originally being deemed inconclusive. Austin Ekeler to miss at least one month

Chargers running back Austin Ekeler underwent an MRI on Monday. The testing confirmed the offensive weapon suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain, forcing him to miss at least four weeks.

Nick Chubb lands on IR

The Cleveland Browns placed running back Nick Chubb on injured reserve with an MCL injury. He’ll miss roughly six weeks.

Kenyan Drake not injured

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake (chest) merely had the wind knocked out of him on Sunday. He was able to avoid a serious injury.

Le’Sean McCoy battling ankle sprain

The Buccaneers’ running back depth has taken a sudden hit with Leonard Fournette and Le’Sean McCoy both battling ankle injuries. Their Week 5 statuses are suddenly in doubt. Wide receiver Chris Godwin (hamstring) is also expected to miss Week 5 after he did not practice on Monday.

Sunday, Oct. 4

Larry Ogunjobi, Nick Chubb to undergo testing on Monday

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that MRIs will be conducted on defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (abdomen) and running back Nick Chubb (knee) on Monday. There is optimism regarding Chubb, though, as the team is optimistic their star running back did not suffer a serious knee injury, according to Pro Football Talk.

Austin Ekeler to miss multiple weeks?

While MRIs have yet to be completed, the Los Angeles Chargers’ initial fear is that running back Austin Ekeler suffered a hamstring strain and hyperextended knee on Sunday against the Buccaneers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. If confirmed, the Chargers would likely place Ekeler on IR, forcing him to miss at least three weeks.

Arians provides updates on Howard, Fournette, Godwin

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians announced that tight end O.J. Howard ruptured his Achilles on Sunday and is done for the season. He added that wide receiver Chris Godwin (hamstring) likely won’t be ready for the team’s Week 5 game on Thursday night while running back Leonard Fournette‘s (ss) status remains up in the air.
