20-0 Run Pushes UMass Lowell Over Loyola (MD)

Trailing by 10 with 11:24 to play? Not a problem for UMass Lowell on Sunday.

The River Hawks held Loyola (MD) scoreless for a 9:08 span in the second half to storm back from a double-digit deficit en route to an 83-76 victory.

UML (5-1) 40 43 83

With 5:04 remaining in regulation, UML’s Matt Harris connected on a 3-pointer to push it out in front, 68-66, for its first lead since it was 5-4.

The Greyhounds finally put an end to what was a 20-0 UML run with 2:16 to go on a pair of Cam Gregory free throws, but it was too little, too late for Loyola.

UML trailed 45-40 at halftime and found itself down by as much as 13 on a pair of occasions in the final frame.

Harris led the River Hawks with 19 points, Jahad Thomas tossed in 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Ryan Jones added 13 points.
