We have been waiting so long for this moment. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero (duh) has made it to the show.

The hype around this kid has been unreal. His father was a legend in Montreal and he gets to play for the only team in Canada now? You can not write this stuff. If you have ever been to your home town team’s game when they play Toronto, you know how well their fans travel. Canada has some of the greatest sports fans of all time. The Blue Jays have had some great players over the years. They have never had someone like Guerrero Jr.

Let’s talk about his game real quick. He is only 20 years old and stands 6’1 250 lbs. He is a big boy, but he is surprisingly very agile at third base. His hitting is just out of this world. The power that he already has is not even possible. He can also hit the ball all over the ballpark with solid contact. He is rated as a 70 hit tool with his power. Just for reference, Mike Trout was a 40 at this age. I said he was surprisingly agile, I never said he was great at third. He still has work to do, but with the Blue Jays rebuilding, this is the time.

Did I mention he can hit?

It wasn’t that long ago that Bryce Harper was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in high school. He was THE guy. He got more hype that Guerrero Jr. because Harper was a five-tool prospect. But Guerrero Jr. means way more to the game than Harper ever will.

It has been a long time since we had a rookie come up and already be one of the most feared bats in baseball. There is just something about a big man who can hit absolute rockets. With more and more players starting to hit for power, Guerrero Jr. is perfect for today’s game.

Baseball is trying to brand itself around its young players, but heaven forbid they have fun. Guerrero Jr. is the perfect mix of fun and talent. His ability to hit is going to make him an A-list celebrity in Canada, I’m not even joking.

Now it is fair to say that he has gotten more hype because of his father. That is true, but if he is anything like his father, then it will all be worth it.

Guerrero Jr. is going to be one of those rare players. Players like Harper, Trout, Aaron Judge, Clayton Kershaw, Francisco Lindor, etc. that you go see when he comes to your town.

I hope all of you are as excited as I am to watch this kid play ball. This is going to be a lot of fun unless you are an opposing pitcher. Just think, we get to see this happen for another 10+ years.
