Now that the free agency drama is mostly over, let’s take a look at the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets franchises in their respective cities for the upcoming season.
The NBA off-season moves have been crazy, wild, and out of this world. Kawhi Leonard going to the Clippers alongside Paul George was not something seen by many. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving teaming up in Brooklyn was also a huge schock sent through the NBA world. Have these moves and many others given the Clippers and the Nets superior status in their respective cities?
Los Angeles Clippers
In addition to the Clippers not only landing the number two best player in the league in Leonard, George also quietly snuck in from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Los Angeles Lakers thought they had the best team in Los Angeles when Anthony Davis was traded from the Pelicans to run alongside LeBron James. That was until Kawhi did the unthinkable and joined forces with George. Having the consenus number one and number two best players in the league face each other is going to be exciting to watch next season. The city of Los Angles just got alot more exciting. Last season James was the main man in Los Angeles but next season its all a different story. There will truly be a battle for Los Angeles.
Brooklyn Nets
Firstly, let’s talk about how the Eastern Conference just landed arguably the best player on the planet according to many analysts. That is the one and only Kevin Durant. Not only did the Nets get Durant but they also joined forces with Irving, who is one of the best point guards in the league to go along with tremendous skills. Secondly, Durant can do it all as a shooting guard, small forward and power forward. However, we will see how the Nets do with him on the sidelines for next season.
With Durant’s gruesome achillies injury, It will be Irving’s team for now. It’s also evident the New York Knicks are the laughing stock of the city, as they had high expecatations heading into free agency. Their number one prospect was to get Zion Williamson and that plan failed. The Knicks then tried to get Durant and Kyrie together, but that plan failed as well. Instead, New York City’s little brother of basketball got both of the superstars.
In conclusion, the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers are the franchises to respect in both Los Angeles and New York.
