White Sox Wednesday: True or False September Edition

White Sox Wednesday: Luis Robert

As most teams are hitting the halfway mark of their respective seasons, here are the burning questions for the Chicago White Sox: True or False September Edition

They are in first place to stay.

True. The team is in sole possession of first place in the American League Central, as the calendar flips to September. After getting out of the starting gate inconsistent game to game, the power bats began to come alive. From veteran first baseman Jose Abreu to rookie Luis Robert and just about everyone in between has each put their stamp on their fair share of games to this point.

The pitching staff that struggled as a whole thought the first third of the team’s games has solidified. Lucas Giolito‘s no-hitter combined with Dallas Keuchel‘s veteran leadership has changed the whole dynamic of Don Cooper‘s pitching staff.

This team, once they hit their stride, hasn’t looked back. There’s no reason to believe that through September that will change. Although they won’t continue to lose only one out of every six or seven games, they will be close.

Not making drastic roster moves at the trade deadline ultimately cost them.

False. Other than potentially trying to add pitching depth, the team likes what their roster looks like. They did add Jarrod Dyson, for outfield insurance.

For the first time in a long time, on the Southside of Chicago, the team has a legitimate shot at postseason baseball. They also stood pat rather than become sellers at the deadline as had become the norm in recent seasons. The front office believes in this team.

This team will be a force heading into next season.

True. While this current truncated season is far from over, this team regardless of how this season ends up will be an exciting one to watch through a full 162-game season.

With the current roster almost entirely under contract through at least next season, White Sox fans have to feel pretty good about this team’s near future.
