Weider’s CFB Top 25 After Shakeup in NCAA Week 8

It was a great weekend of college football action. Our own Patrick Weider was locked in, analyzing every team and game in Week 8.

Here are Weider’s top 25 teams after Week 8 of the college football season based on wins/losses, schedule, and overall performance.

1) Oregon (7-0)

Oregon continues to look like the best team in the Big Ten. They beat Ohio State by one point and look like a legit National Championship team.

2) Georgia (6-1)

Georgia has struggled throughout the year, barely beating Kentucky and Mississippi State and losing to Alabama. Then, Saturday night, Georgia destroyed Texas in a commanding win.

3) Penn State (6-0)

Penn State has looked impressive, starting 6-0 on the year, but they will now have two back-to-back challenges when they visit Wisconsin and host Ohio State in consecutive weeks.

4) Ohio State (5-1)

The Penn State game in two weeks is a must-win for Ohio State if they want to remain in the mix for a Big Ten and national title.

5) Texas (6-1)

Texas got worked over pretty well by Georgia, but they are still in good shape to make a playoff run.

6) Miami (7-0)

Miami continues to look like the favorite to win the ACC, but their defense has some serious holes.

7) Tennessee (6-1)

Tennessee got the big win on Saturday against Alabama. Even if they lose to Georgia later this year, they should still be in solid shape for the playoffs.

8) LSU (6-1)

After opening up against USC and losing, LSU has not fallen since. They have a huge game against Texas A&M this week.

9) BYU (7-0)

It is time to start giving BYU some props. They are 7-0 on the year and look like the favorite to win the Big 12.

10) Indiana (7-0)

Indiana continues to roll this year after they destroyed Nebraska. They look like they have a good chance to win 10 games, which is amazing for Indiana.

11) Clemson (6-1)

After losing to Georga in Week 1, Clemson has steamrolled their competition. They look like they have a good chance of making the playoffs.

12) Iowa State (7-0)

Iowa State survived against UCF in a game they struggled in, but they continue to be undefeated.

13) Notre Dame (6-1)

Notre Dame continues to play well after they were upset by North Illinois earlier this year.

14) Texas A&M (6-1)

Texas A&M has continued to play well and got a big matchup this week against LSU.

15) Kansas State (6-1)

Kansas State has started to kick it in high gear after they were defeated by BYU.

16) Alabama (5-2)

Alabama now has two losses and will need to win out if they want to make the 12-team playoff.

17) Pittsburgh (6-0)

Pittsburgh is the surprise team in the ACC and looks like they could make a run to the conference title game.

18) Boise State (5-1)

Boise State has looked the part all year and has a huge test this week against UNLV.

19) Illinois (6-1)

Illinois has played well this year but has a huge test this week when they visit Oregon.

20) SMU (6-1)

SMU continues to roll in the ACC. They have a shot to make the ACC championship game.

21) Missouri (6-1)

Missouri came back and survived against Auburn this past Saturday. They still have a chance to make the playoffs if they can beat Alabama this week.

22) Ole Miss (5-2)

Ole Miss has had a disappointing season, but they still have a chance to make a playoff run if they can win out.

23) Army (7-0)

Army continues to win each week and has been dominant in doing it.

24) Navy (6-0)

Navy and Army are on a collision course to play each other in the AAC championship game.

25) Vanderbilt (5-2)

One of the best stories in college football is Vanderbilt being relevant as a program.
