Prime Time Sports Talk college football analyst Patrick Weider returns with his 2024 CFB Playoff Bracketology! Which teams are headed for specific seeds in the 2024-25 playoff bracket?

Let’s check out his full analysis.

Top 4 Teams

These teams earn first-round byes.

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Miami
4. BYU

Weider’s notes:

  • Oregon continues to look like the best team in the country.
  • Georgia looked shaky against Florida on Saturday. Specifically, Carson Beck continues to struggle at quarterback.
  • Miami has the best offense in the country, but they continue to struggle on defense.
  • BYU is the lone undefeated Big 12 team.

Seeds 8 and 9

Winner of #8 vs. #9 plays #1 (Oregon)

8. Penn State
9. Notre Dame

  • Penn State had a setback against Ohio State, but if they win the rest of their games, they should make the playoffs.
  • If Notre Dame wins out, they are a lock to make the playoffs with just one loss.

Seeds 5 and 12

Winner of #5 vs. #12 plays #4 (BYU)

5. Ohio State
12. Boise State

  • Ohio State had a huge win against Penn State, but I still think Oregon wins the Big Ten.
  • Boise State looks like the best Group of 5 team.

Seeds 6 and 11

Winner of #6 vs. #11 plays #3 (Miami)

6. Texas
11. Tennessee

  • Texas only has a loss against Georgia. If they keep winning, they will be in a prime position to make the playoffs.
  • Tennesee has looked shaky, but even if they lose to Georgia, they should make the playoffs.

Seeds 7 and 10

Winner of #7 vs. #10 plays #2 (Georgia)

7. Indiana
10. LSU

  • Indiana has been one of the best teams in college football. They have won every game by 14 points so far. Even if they lose to Ohio State, they should have a good chance to make the playoffs.
  • Alabama and LSU face off in a de facto play-in game next week. I think LSU wins it at home, so they get moved to the 10th spot.
