In a game between two of the National Football League’s most high-powered offenses, the Seattle Seahawks traveled to Orchard Park to battle the Buffalo Bills. The Bills scored 44 points for the first time in four years, defeating the Seahawks 44-34. They improve to 7-2 for the first time since 1993.
The Seahawks saw themselves fall behind 14-0 early on after a hot start by Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense. Russell Wilson and company were never able to take the lead with Leslie Frazier‘s defense forcing the nine-year pro into multiple turnovers.
First Half
Buffalo’s special teams unit made an impact early on in this one with Andre Roberts returning the opening kickoff to the Seahawks’ 45-yard line. The Bills jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead following three straight pass plays to Devin Singletary, Stefon Diggs, and Isaiah McKenzie.
After completions to wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley and a 22-yard catch and run by Singletary, Allen would find tight end Tyler Kroft in the back of the end zone for a one-yard score to extend the lead. During their second drive of the game, Wilson completed passes to David Moore, D.K. Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett to give his team a first and ten at the opponent’s 14-yard line. After stalling out on their next three plays, the team would face a fourth and one. Electing to go for it, Wilson’s pass into the end zone was intercepted by safety Jordan Poyer in a huge swing of momentum.
Allen would find rookie Gabriel Davis inside Seahawks territory. However, after back-to-back sacks, the Bills were forced to settle for a 44-yard Tyler Bass field goal. A 28-yard pass interference call on Tre’Davious White and a 41-yard completion to Metcalf would set Seattle up for a Wilson quarterback sneak three plays later to cut the Buffalo lead to 17-7. On their final possession of the half, Allen would find Diggs for back-to-back 21-yard receptions to set the Bills up to score again. Davis’s four-yard reception would give Allen the first four-touchdown opening half of his career and regain a 17-point lead. A Jason Myers 44-yard field goal cut the Bills’ lead to 24-10.
Second Half
The Seahawks opened up the second half with the ball. However, a strip-sack by defensive end Jerry Hughes would give Buffalo the ball deep inside Seattle territory. After their second turnover of the day, the team surrendered just three points to extend the lead back to three possessions once again. Wilson would find tight end Jacob Hollister multiple times on the drive, with running back DeeJay Dallas finding the end zone on a four-yard touchdown run. After a rare Buffalo three and out, Pete Carroll’s group would pull the lead within one possession with a 44-yard field goal.
At the start of the fourth quarter, a sack on third down would give the ball back to Seattle down by seven points. However, an illegal contact penalty on Jamal Adams extended the Buffalo drive. After a 33-yard screen pass to Brown, a one-yard touchdown plunge by rookie running back Zack Moss extended the Bills’ lead back to two scores. On the Seahawks’ next drive, White intercepted Wilson following a sack on first down. This would set up Allen and the team’s offense inside their opponent’s ten-yard line.
A three-yard touchdown scamper by the former Wyoming Cowboy would extend the lead back to 21 points. The Seahawks responded with a 55-yard bomb to David Moore to pull Seattle back within striking distance. However, after a 31-yard Tyler Bass field goal, a Metcalf touchdown was too late for the Seahawks as they drop a rare game on the season and fall to 6-2.

The Seahawks travel to Los Angeles to battle the Rams next Sunday as they look to get back in the win column and keep pace over the second-place Arizona Cardinals in the ultra-competitive NFC West. The Bills head out west in Week 10 to battle the Cardinals in the hunt for their first AFC East title since 1995.
