A duo of 1-6 teams will do battle on Sunday. The Houston Texans travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. Houston has done better since the firing of Bill O’Brien but is still struggling. Jacksonville, meanwhile, has now benched Gardner Minshew and will start Jake Luton instead. The two teams will battle it out to see who can win, or in Jacksonville’s case, “win” by losing and getting a higher draft pick.
Houston Texans
Things start with Deshaun Watson. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and has put the team on his shoulders to keep Houston in games. The resurgence of David Johnson has been nice to see along with Watson’s magnificence. The receiving core remained intact this week despite Will Fuller being in trade rumors. Jacksonville has the worst pass defense in the league, and Watson should take advantage of that.
Defensively, the Texans are going to be rolling with Brennan Scarlett and Shantee Orr as starters at the second level as some linebackers are on the COVID-19 list. To make matters worse, Bradley Roby didn’t travel with the team due to disciplinary reasons. While that may seem troublesome, the Texans seem confident that Luton won’t be able to do much damage. J.J. Watt needs to get after Luton and should be able to do so against Jawaan Taylor.
Jacksonville Jaguars
After an impressive Week 1 victory, the Jaguars, well, have been as expected. They have lost six straight and have now benched their starting quarterback, who was thought to be the savior for Jacksonville a few short months ago. Enter in Luton, who was a sixth-round draft choice out of Oregon State. The general public doesn’t know much about him, but he will have plenty of weapons. James Robinson will be the key to Jacksonville as Houston is dreadful against the run. D.J. Chark, Keelan Cole, and Laviska Shenault are the main pass-catchers for the Jaguars and will help Luton out.
Defensively, Jacksonville is a mess. They are the worst in the league against the pass, which isn’t a good sign as Watson comes to town. Jacksonville has only one game this season where they haven’t given up over 30 points, and they will give up 30 this week once again. The defense won’t do any favors for Luton and the offense.

Smash the over on this game. Both defenses are in the bottom-third in the league and won’t be able to stop the opposing offenses. Even with Luton starting, Jacksonville should keep it within a touchdown.
Prediction
Houston’s offensive firepower outmatches Jacksonville’s. Luton has a solid game, but Jacksonville’s defense continues to be a disaster as the Jaguars lose their seventh-straight game.
Final Score: Houston Texans 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 27
