On Sunday, 500 people will be able to watch the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions play in Ford Field. The 4-2 Colts are coming off of their bye week and look to continue their success against the 3-3 Lions. Detroit will look to keep pace with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers in the NFC North, while the Colts look to keep pace with the Titans in the AFC South and Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens in the wild card race.
Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis needs to get off to a fast start offensively. They could rely on Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines more this week against a run defense for Detroit that has been lackluster. The offensive line for the Colts should be able to handle the pass rush as it is difficult to predict how much the newly acquired Everson Griffen will play. Philip Rivers needs to keep his arm under control this week and not force any throws that could be intercepted. Rivers has made some boneheaded mistakes this year and has almost cost the Colts some games on his own. Indianapolis comes into the game healthy with both Anthony Castonzo and Darius Leonard returning to full health. Ryan Kelly and Mo Alie-Cox are questionable.
Detroit Lions
Detroit’s defense will have to keep pace with the Indianapolis defense that has been one of the best in the league this year. Matthew Stafford and Kenny Golladay will look to hook up often this week. That might be difficult as Golladay will be paired against Xavier Rhodes on Sunday. Detroit’s offensive line desperately needs to keep Stafford upright, or this game will be over quickly. Expect T.J. Carrie and Julian Blackmon to make plenty of plays on Sunday. The rushing attack led by D’Andre Swift will need to take the pressure off of Stafford as they haven’t done enough to do so yet.

If the last few weeks have anything to show about the spread, it’s that the Lions will make this a close game, and the Colts will make enough mistakes to allow Detroit to have a chance. Stafford is the best quarterback the Colts defense has faced this year and could force this to be a higher scoring game than expected.
Prediction
The Colts are the more well-rounded team than the Lions. Detroit made a move earlier this week for a pass-rusher to make a playoff push, but that isn’t likely. Ultimately, Rivers leads Indianapolis down the field on the final drive, and Rodrigo Blankenship kicks the game-winning field goal as time expires.
Final Score: Indianapolis Colts 27, Detroit Lions 26
