This week, many players did enough to make the list. Getting it to only 10 was not easy. A lot of the list for this week is filled with the same players who continue their strong rookie seasons. None of the quarterbacks did enough to make the list for the week. Let’s take a look at the 10 best rookies in the Week 6 NFL Rookie Rankings.
10. Rondale Moore, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Rondale Moore continued his fantastic rookie season helping contribute to the Cardinals’ 5-0 start. He had five catches for 59 yards along with 38 yards rushing which led the Cardinals on the ground. Moore continues to show his versatility every week. He has been one of the top rookies in this class from the start. Expect more big games from Moore going forward.
9. Pete Werner, LB, New Orleans Saints
Pete Werner had a very productive game for the Saints as they got a big road victory. He had an impressive total of 13 tackles. Werner proved the type of prospect he was through the draft process in this game. He made plays big plays for the Saints’ defense throughout the game. Hopefully, this is a game Werner builds on moving forward.
8. Alijah Vera-Tucker, OG, New York Jets
Alijah Vera-Tucker has quietly been getting much better over the last two games. This week, he had his best game yet. He did not allow a sack or even a pressure in pass protection. Vera-Tucker also helped in this game as an effective run blocker. He is starting to show why he was such a highly-touted prospect. He is a special athlete who plays with strength. Anticipate Vera-Tucker continuing his great play.
7. DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Once again, DeVonta Smith had another productive game and helped the Eagles get a pivotal win. He had seven catches for 77 yards. Smith has proven his reliable hands as a pass-catcher of the football. He plays with great speed and shows his special separation ability. To this point, he has been everything that the Eagles could have asked for. He has been one of the best rookies all year.
6. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Like Smith, Ja’Marr Chase did more than enough to earn his weekly spot. Despite the Bengals’ tough loss, Chase did his part making big plays. He had six catches for 159 yards and a touchdown. Chase continues to show his ability to make big plays as he had one catch go for 70 yards this week. He has arguably been the best rookie all throughout the regular season. Expect more big production from Chase.
5. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Buffalo Bills
Gregory Rousseau proved why the Bills spent their first-round draft pick on him in this crucial game. He recorded five total tackles, one sack, one pass deflection, and a key interception. His length is a huge problem for offenses. Rousseau has shown his ability to make a drastic impact pressuring the quarterback so far. He has a ton of upside and the Bills will need big games going forward from Rousseau.
4. Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Najee Harris led the Steelers to an important home win to keep their season alive. He had 23 carries for 122 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Harris averaged over five yards a carry and had a long run of 20 yards. In the passing game as a receiver, he recorded 2 catches for 20 yards which put his total scrimmage yards for the game at 142. He has shown his dynamic skill set as a runner and receiver through the first five games.
3. Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Pitts had his first breakout game helping lead the Falcons to a key win. He recorded nine catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. He had a big play go for 39 yards in this one. Pitts showed his unique skill set as he was utilized in a multitude of ways. He is an ultra-talented young rookie. Following this great performance, expect Pitts to continue getting many targets in the Falcons passing game.
2. Kadarius Toney, WR, New York Giants
For the second straight week, Kadarius Toney had a tremendous game for the Giants. Despite the loss, Toney had a big performance for the Giants. He had 10 catches for 189 yards with a big play that went for 38 yards. Toney showed his speed, ability to separate, and dynamic ability with the football in his hands. The Giants have to continue to make Toney a focal point of their offense. These last two games should be just the start for Toney.
1. Rashawn Slater, OT, Los Angeles Chargers
Rashawn Slater has the strongest case for being the best rookie in this strong group to this moment. He still has not allowed a sack in five games. He has shown his power and athletic ability as a pass blocker. Slater helped the Chargers score 47 points in a thrilling home win. Against one of the best edge pass rushers in the game, Myles Garrett, Slater was great. What he has been able to do up until this point is simply special. Slater is already one of the best tackles in the league.
