The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys will meet on Sunday, Oct. 11 in a divisional battle that is sure to draw the attention of a large audience. With Dallas opening the year at 1-3 and New York at 0-4, these two NFC East foes have not lived up to expectations.
The Cowboys lead the all-time series between these two teams, 68-45-2. Dallas has also won each of the last eight matchups. Sunday marks rookie head coach Joe Judge’s first game against America’s Team while Mike McCarthy looks to improve on his 4-2 record against the Giants.
The Giants are coming off of a 17-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Meanwhile, the Cowboys suffered a crushing 49-38 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns last week.
New York is averaging a horrific 11.8 points scored per game while allowing 24 points per contest. Dallas’s averages check in at 31.5 points scored and 36.5 allowed. While the Cowboys’ defense is porous, their offense is the best in the league with its average of 509.5 yards per game.
Dak Prescott has been impressive through four games so far, completing 137 passes for a league-best 1,690 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions. He’s connected with Amari Cooper 37 times as the newly-extended wideout has amassed 401 yards and one touchdown. CeeDee Lamb has also put together an underlooked run at the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after an impressive opening quarter of the season. Meanwhile, on the ground, Ezekiel Elliott has 70 carries for 273 yards and three scores. As for the defense, Dallas has one of the shakiest units when it comes to thwarting opposing offenses. The Cowboys’ defense has forced just two turnovers while their offense has been responsible for seven lost.
New York hasn’t seen much success on offense or defense, though Daniel Jones could find a groove on Sunday against Dallas’ weak defense. The former Duke quarterback has just 91 completions for 889 yards, two scores, and five interceptions this season. With that said, he also leads the team in rushing (18 carries for 137 yards) now that Saquon Barkley is done for the year. In the passing game, Darius Slayton (15 catches, 236 yards, two touchdowns), Golden Tate (14 catches, 103 yards), and Evan Engram (17 catches, 131 yards) have had a solid impact during Sterling Shepard‘s (toe) absence. Finally, the New York defense has forced four turnovers while the offense has allowed eight.
Linebacker Oshane Ximines (shoulder) didn’t practice all week and has been ruled out by the Giants. Meanwhile, safeties Adrian Colbert (neck) and Jabrill Peppers (ankle) and linebacker Kyler Fackrell (neck) all enter the weekend as questionable.
On the Dallas side, the Cowboys ruled on just two players, declaring both center Joe Looney (knee) and tackle Tyron Smith (neck) out for Week 4.

Setting the spread at eight is a fair decision, but based on Dallas’ horrific defense so far this year, it would be wise to take the underdog to win, or at least lose by less than eight points. Of course, the over/under might be the wildest thing about this betting line. It is baffling to even think that the two worst defenses in the league could be successful and keep this game under 60 points. Long story short: take the over.
Prediction
The Giants will make it close on Sunday, scoring four times against a very weak Dallas defense. However, the Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the league, so their mere advantage over a somewhat pieced-together New England defense is simply warranted. The Cowboys move to 2-3 while New York falls to 0-5.
Final Score: Cowboys 34, Giants 28
