Week 5 Preview: Indianapolis Colts vs. Cleveland Browns

In what could be the best game of the weekend, the Indianapolis Colts head to Cleveland to take on the Browns. Both teams come in with records of 3-1. Indianapolis is looking to keep control of the AFC South with the Titans spiraling out of control with their COVID situation, and the Browns look to keep pace with Baltimore and Pittsburgh.

Indianapolis comes into this game with the top-ranked defense in the league that suffocated Chicago’s offense last week. Unfortunately, they could be without Darius Leonard, who hasn’t practiced this week with a groin injury. The Colts offense hasn’t been as high-powered as many expected due to the injuries at the receiver spot, and they could be without Anthony Castonzo due to a rib injury. Jonathan Taylor continues to be the lead-man in the backfield rotation that also involves Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins. Philip Rivers will look to take advantage of a young Cleveland secondary. If Castonzo and Leonard are both out, this game will be more difficult for the Colts.

Cleveland has found that the offense runs through the running game. That took a hit last week as Nick Chubb is now on injured reserve. The Browns will now turn to Kareem Hunt as the lead back. Odell Beckham Jr has finally found success with Baker Mayfield, and the two will look to hook up more against an Indianapolis secondary that is much improved from last year behind the success of both Rock Ya-Sin and Xavier Rhodes. Myles Garrett is currently tied for the lead in terms of sacks with five on the year, and with Castonzo potentially out, Garrett could have a field day. Cleveland is currently third-worst against the pass and fifth-best against the run defensively, so they match up well against Indianapolis.

Over/Under: O 46 (-110) | U 46 (-110)

The spread is the smallest of the week and rightfully so as this is the best game of the week. It will likely be close the whole game. The over for this game should be smashed as both offenses are firing on all cylinders and only Indianapolis has a top-notch defense.

Prediction

This is a very difficult game to predict. Both teams are at their best currently and are looking to keep that success rolling. Even though they could potentially be without Castonzo and Leonard, the Colts barely win this game.

Final Score: Indianapolis 28, Cleveland 27
