In what was expected to be a high-scoring game, the Colts defense showed up this week and made it difficult for the Minnesota offense. Indianapolis looked to have figured out the kinks while Minnesota is still struggling behind a bunch of new faces on defense.
Colts Jump Out Ahead…
Ultimately, Indianapolis got the lead and never looked back. Philip Rivers only had six incompletions, one being an interception. The Colts relied on new starters Jonathan Taylor and Mo Alie-Cox due to injuries. The two performed extremely well. Taylor rushed 26 times for 101 yards and a touchdown and added another two catches. Alie-Cox had five catches for 111 yards. Indianapolis sent a first-round pick to the 49ers to get DeForest Buckner who had 1.5 sacks today, including a safety. The Colts had three interceptions from Khari Willis, T.J. Carrie, and Kenny Moore. Malik Hooker left the game with an Achilles injury and was replaced by Julian Blackmon. Parris Campbell also left with a knee injury.
…And Don’t Look Back
Minnesota was manhandled once again for the second week in a row. Kirk Cousins was abysmal and completed only 11-of-26 passes. He had no touchdowns compared to his three interceptions and finished the game with a rating of 15.9. Dalvin Cook had a good game where he had 64 yards and a touchdown but he didn’t have the game script to shred the Colts defense as Minnesota was down early. The whole defense was a mess as Taylor ran over their defense and Rivers picked apart the young secondary.
Highlights
The Colts won 28-11 against a Vikings team that is currently searching for answers. It is unknown what the extent of Campbell and Hooker’s injuries are for Indianapolis. Minnesota will look to get back on track against Tennessee who is 2-0 after a tight win over Jacksonville. Indianapolis will look to continue their success against the Jets who can’t seem to get anything going.
