Week 2 Preview: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Patrick Mahomes

Last week, both the Chiefs and Chargers came away with victories to start 1-0 the 2020 season. Last week, the Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans on Opening Night, while the Chargers snuck away with a win over the Bengals. This week, both teams clash in Los Angeles as the Chiefs look to continue their dominance over the Chargers, winning nine of the last ten matchups. The Chiefs look to continue their offensive dominance, while the Chargers look to continue great defensive play and stifle Kansas City.

The Outlook

The Chiefs go into this week’s game without CB Charvarius Ward and DE Alex Okafor on defense, but rookie  L’Jarius Sneed and Tanoh Kpassagnon played well. The offense for the Chiefs is going to put up a lot of points this week against an injury-riddled defense. They also look to continue to establish the run game with rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Patrick Mahomes has been terrific against the Chargers and looks to continue that streak.

The Chiefs looked dominant last week. They finally have an every-down running back in Edwards-Helaire, who led the league in rushing last week in his NFL debut. Patrick Mahomes was great, throwing three passing touchdowns. The defense recorded 13 pressures and four sacks on Deshaun Watson.

Chargers +8 1/2 (-110)
Moneyline: Chiefs -405

Chargers +305

Over/Under: Over 47.5 (-110)

Under 47.5 (-110)

The Chiefs went into last week’s game against the Texans as 9.5-point favorites. This week, they go into the game -8.5 points. The Chiefs are going to cover the spread as the Chargers offense is too weak to keep up with the Chiefs. The over/under is the toughest bet as Chargers showed a weak offensive attack that struggled to put the ball in the end zone last week. The Chiefs offense is going to put up points, but will the Chargers be able to?

Prediction

The Chargers played great defense against the Bengals last week, but the offense struggled to get in the end zone. This week, they will have to get the offense going. The Chiefs are going to get an early lead and put constant pressure on the Charger defense, who won’t be able to keep up. The Chiefs win in dominant fashion as they take control of the AFC West.

Final Score: Chiefs 35, Chargers 14
