Week 2 Fantasy Football Busts

Week 2 Fantasy Football Busts

Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that players bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good fantasy owners from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 2.

Ben Roethlisberger – QB, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs LV)

This pick is fairly self-explanatory. The Las Vegas Raiders were able to limit Lamar Jackson to just 18.0 fantasy points in Week 1 and Ben Rothlisberger will likely not put up more this week. The Raiders may lean on their run this week against the Steelers and if the game is slow-paced, Roethlisberger will probably fail to put up meaningful numbers in Week 2.

Mike Davis – RB, Atlanta Falcons (vs TB)

Mike Davis had a mediocre Week 1 and is now facing one of the best defenses in the league against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard combined for just 14.2 fantasy points last week against the Buccaneers. Even though their gameplan was pass-heavy, neither of them broke double-digits which is concerning. Additionally, fantasy owners saw runningbacks Cordarrelle Patterson and Keith Smith cut into Davis’ workload Week 1, meaning there may not be enough touches for him to succeed without a touchdown.

Ty’Son Williams – RB, Baltimore Ravens (vs KC)

Ty’son Williams had an outstanding Week 1 scoring 18.4 fantasy points on a national stage during Monday Night Football. However, fantasy owners should be careful starting him this week. Williams only had nine carries, one less than Latavius Murray, who also had a strong Week 1. As Murray continues to learn and master the playbook, his role will likely continue to increase making Williams a risky option in Week 2.

Jaylen Waddle – WR, Miami Dolphins (vs BUF)

Jaylen Waddle was a boom for fantasy owners during Week 1. He put up 16.4 points and his outlook looks good for the rest of the year, just not during Week 2. The Dolphins are facing a tough Bills defense that is good against the pass. Waddle is a player that should be on the bench this week if your team has better options at the flex position.

Dallas Goedert – TE, Philadelphia Eagles (vs SF)

Dallas Goedert had a successful Week 1 with 14.2 points against the Atlanta Falcons, but his production may not continue into Week 2. Both DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor had great Week 1’s and Zach Ertz cut into Goedert’s production as well. The Eagles are playing a better defense this week against the San Francisco 49ers and if their offense does not click as well as last week, there are too many players demanding targets on their team for Goedert to produce well.
