Waiver Wire

Dominating the waiver wire could catapult you into championship territory regardless of how much you struggled during the draft or while making trades. Read on for eight season-long waiver wire targets, as well as a few players who you can comfortably cut loose.

Adds

Let’s check out eight players that warrant consideration ahead of the upcoming waiver wire cycle. All players listed here are rostered in less than 35 percent of ESPN leagues and could have legitimate impacts down the stretch.

Taylor Heinicke

Rostered in 29.6 percent of leagues

Heinicke continues to be an intriguing streaming option on a weekly basis. Now, as the fantasy playoffs approach, Heinicke could help anchor your quarterback position if you’re in need of help. He’s not a weekly QB1 option, but he’s very much worth rostering down the stretch.

Boston Scott

Rostered in 30.9 percent of leagues

This may be an alarming option considering Scott did not register a touch in Week 13. However, Miles Sanders is dealing with another ankle injury and should be headed for a more significant workload in the future. Fantasy managers (especially those who have shares of Sanders) should look into adding the 26-year-old.

D’Onta Foreman

Rostered in 34.2 percent of leagues

Foreman rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries prior to the Titans’ bye. Although Jeremy McNichols could be returning and the Tennessee backfield is far from stable, it seems realistic to assume that Foreman will see a large workload over the remainder of the season. He could be a solid FLEX option in the fantasy playoffs.

Samaje Perine

Rostered in 6.6 percent of leagues

Joe Mixon suffered a neck injury in Week 13. Although he returned to the game pretty quickly, the star back did fumble the football and was still dealing with some lingering effects after the contest ended. As such, Perine is an intriguing addition this week. Even if Mixon plays, the slew of injuries to the top running backs this season has exposed how important it is to roster handcuffs. Perine would be an RB2 and potential league-winner if anything happens to Mixon.

Russell Gage

Rostered in 25.2 percent of leagues

Gage was phenomenal this past week, catching 11 of 12 targets for 130 yards against the Buccaneers. He has replaced Calvin Ridley quite nicely and should contain to remain involved during upcoming matchups against the Panthers, 49ers, and Lions. He should be rostered in most leagues.

Tre’Quan Smith

Rostered in 13.7 percent of leagues

After posting at least 7.1 fantasy points in each of his last five games, Smith hauled in just two of seven targets this past week. However, a tough matchup and poor quarterback play were both to blame. Heading into Week 14, Hill has an extra week of work under his belt and Smith will have an even more predominant role after Deonte Harris was suspended three games. Smith is very much in the mid-range WR3 conversation against the Jets.

Kendrick Bourne

Rostered in 33.9 percent of leagues

Bourne’s usage on Monday was limited due to horrendous weather, though he did rush one time. The former 49ers wideout has emerged as one of Mac Jones‘s favorite targets and should remain quite involved following the team’s Week 14 bye. He can be trusted as a mid-range WR3 going forward.

Tyler Conklin

Rostered in 34.2 percent of leagues

Conklin had a big game this week, hauling in seven of nine targets for 56 yards. His workload was largely aided by Dalvin Cook‘s absence and Adam Thielen‘s mid-game exit, though he very well could have produced even if the two offensive studs were active. He’s a legitimate high-end TE2 option over the remainder of the season.

Drops

Let’s check out three players that you can comfortably cut loose from your roster. All players listed here are rostered in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues and aren’t expected to have legitimate impacts down the stretch.

Courtland Sutton

Rostered in xx percent of leagues

It’s hard to drop someone as well-known as Sutton, but the fact of the matter is that he has totaled just 18 targets, nine catches, and 110 yards over the course of his last five games. The Denver offense continues to stall, and the unit’s starting wideout can be dropped in leagues of 12 teams or fewer.

Antonio Brown

Rostered in 77.7 percent of leagues

A suspension will force Brown out of action through Week 15. He could still return for the final weeks of the season, but there’s also the possibility that the Buccaneers release him. Even if he sticks on the roster, the veteran might need some acclimation time after missing nine weeks of action. There’s far too much risk here. His roster spot can be given to a safer waiver wire option down the stretch.

Allen Robinson

Rostered in 66.6 percent of leagues

Robinson has posted double-digit fantasy points in just two games this season. Even when not battling a hamstring injury, he can’t be trusted in Chicago’s floundering offense. Just like with Brown, fantasy managers should replace Robinson with someone who has more upside in anticipation of the fantasy playoffs.
