Fantasy Football Busts Week 14

Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 14.

Joe Burrow – QB, Cincinnati Bengals (vs SF)

Burrow has been respectable for fantasy purposes this season. The second-year quarterback is averaging 17.2 fantasy points per game so far. However, this week, he could struggle. The San Francisco 49ers’ defense has been playing better recently forcing more turnovers. Additionally, the 49ers rank in the bottom half of the league against the run meaning the Bengals could try to rely on Joe Mixon rather than Burrow to lead them to victory.

James Conner – RB, Arizona Cardinals (vs LAR)

Conner was selected in the late rounds of fantasy drafts before the season but has played very well. He is averaging 15.7 fantasy points and has been excellent with Chase Edmonds out. However, Edmonds is returning this week and Connor could go back to a touchdown dependant, decreased role. With their game not until Monday night, Edmonds will have an extra day of rest to get healthy making Conner is a risky start this week. Additionally, the Los Angeles Rams are also allowing the ninth-least fantasy points to running backs they have faced making Week 14 even more challenging for Conner.

Darnell Mooney – WR, Chicago Bears (vs GB)

Mooney has had a good season so far but has struggled over the last couple of weeks. However, he is still averaging 12.5 points on the season and is rostered in 77.3 percent of leagues on ESPN fantasy. However, this week the Bears are facing a difficult Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed the 13th-least points to opposing wide receivers. Additionally, winter conditions in Green Bay can be tough. Although the forecast projects clear skies, if conditions change and make it challenging to throw the ball, Mooney has not been consistent enough all year to be started this week with a tough matchup.

Odell Beckham Jr. – WR, Los Angeles Rams (vs ARI)

Beckham has received fantasy hype after Robert Woods‘ injury, but should not be started this week. With Van Jefferson playing well recently and Cooper Kupp having a career year, Beckham could be outshined by them both. Additionally, the Arizona Cardinals have held opposing wide receivers to the tenth-least points making the matchup even more challenging for Beckham.

Kyle Pitts – TE – Atlanta Falcons (vs CAR)

Pitts had a good start to the year but has cooled off recently. The rookie tight end is averaging 10.5 fantasy points per game but may underperform once again this week. The Atlanta Falcons are facing the Carolina Panthers who have been excellent on defense holding limiting opposing tight ends to the 11th-least points per game. If the Falcons struggle to pass, Pitts could be in line for a poor game.
