Week 12 Recap: Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

Week 12 Recap: Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Tennessee Titans came to lay today against their division rivals. They took control of the AFC South and are looking strong heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

First Quarter

The Titans started off with the ball on their own 25 after the opening kickoff resulted in a touchback. Ryan Tannehill mixed some high-percentage passes with the running of Derrick Henry to take nearly six minutes off the clock culminating in a 12-yard score by Henry. Titans 7-0

Philip Rivers orchestrated a touchdown drive of his own in response. The Colts took almost seven minutes off the clock on a drive that ended with an 11-yard scoring pass to Trey Burton tying the score.

This time the Titans scored quickly. On just the fifth play of the drive, Tannehill hit WR A.J. Brown over the middle and the speedster took it 69 yards to the end zone. Titans 14-7.

Second Quarter

Rivers drove down the field easily with a few first down strikes. Jacoby Brissett finished off the drive with a one-yard run and ties the game at 14.

The two teams traded punts. With the ball in Tennessee’s hands, the Colts and Rock Ya-Sin commit a damaging penalty giving the Titans a first down at Indy’s 25. A 21-yard completion to Corey Davis gets the Titans to the Colts’ four. Ya-Sin gets flagged for another penalty and Henry runs it in for a 21-14 Titans lead.

After a Colts punt, Henry starts the ensuing drive with a 31-yard scamper and less than two minutes later runs it in from the 11 for a 28-14 Titans lead.

And Tennessee is pouring it on. With great starting field position, Tannehill hits Davis on fourth down for 37 yards to the Indy one-yard line. The Titans QB calls his own number and dives in for the score. The Titans go into halftime with a 35-14 lead.

Third Quarter

The defenses were in full swing as the teams punted four times before Breon Borders picked off Rivers and the Titans turned it into a 49-yard field goal by Stephen Gostowski.

Fourth Quarter

The Colts had a big play with Rivers connecting with T.Y. Hilton for 50 yards which set up another Brissett run for a score to bring the Colts within 18, 38-20.

With Rivers in catchup mode, he took the Colts down the field and finished it with a five-yard TD to Hilton. The two-point conversion failed and that left the Colts trying the onside kick down 38-26.

The onside went horribly for Indy as Brown recovered for the Titans and returned it 42 yards for the score. It put the game to an end with the Titans on top 45-26.

Highlights

The Titans are now 8-3 and will host the Cleveland Browns next week in an important AFC battle.

The Colts head to Houston to take on the 4-7 Texans in what should be a tough divisional fight.
